I'm a high school history teacher, and last year, I finally convinced the school board to let me start a tabletop rpg club! The school even gave me a modest budget to buy figurines and books for the club. Last year we started with 5 students signing up, and every Thursday after school I DM'd for them. On the last day of class, we sat down and had an epic 4 hour session to end the campaign and beat the final boss, and we used this soundtrack in the battle. It was easily one of my most memorable experiences as a DM. This year I had almost 4 times as many students sign up, so they gave us an annex room, and the players from last year are now dungeon masters for these new groups after school on Thursdays. One group is even playing Cyberpunk 2020 lmao! This was the best idea I ever had.

For the last year and a half, my dnd group used this playlist as our "encounter" music for our main campaign. Last week, we finally wrapped up that campaign. For as long as I could remember I have always wanted to be the hero the one with the swords and the magic. Destroying my enemies and rectifying all of the wrong that is in the world. Music has always given an indescribable feeling of power as well as empathy. I feel both privileged as well as incredibly grateful that I am allowed to hear the melodies that flow from instruments of all kinds. And for me now, though it may be a very late revelation, I have finally realized that I can be that hero, and that as writing has always been a Passion of mine all I have to do is pick up a pen and I will be transported into a world of my wildest imagination.
