The fact she didn't touch on scrimblo catalogue after Mandela is a missed opportunity, especially since its made by the same guy (yes Kister made a parody of his own web series). While mandela made me piss myself in fear, scrimblo made me piss myself in laughter
  • 2012: “I’m gonna make this character scary by making their eyes bleed and they murder now” 2022: “I’m gonna make this character scary by making their mouth really wide and give them photo-realistic eyes”
  • Literally all analog horror is "Instructional DVD at Smitty Whatsaburgers family diner, where oh no Smitty's face gets all scrungly and distorted"
  • @StitchPen
I've played enough Garry's Mod to know that overexaggerated facial expressions and body parts share more comedic value than horror.
  • @PIMKAMINA2
I love that alternate gomie has some notable differences like the sweater strings and skirt, very clever
  • @CGFillertext
Fun fact: the creator of Local58 also made the Candle Cove creepypasta
  • There are only so many ways to be innovative, I think that analog horror can still work using the tropes that's set up for them. Because if even analog horror parodies can be scary from time to time, the problem is more with how the tropes are handled as opposed to them just being overused. I'd like to see the analog format used for things other than horror as well.

how the hell does monument mythos still fall under the radar absolute obtuse fucking masterpiece

Despite the over saturation of the genre, there's actually quite a noticeable number of analog horror channels that are very creative and unique, but they unfortunately don't get enough views. Channels such as Midwest Angelica, RICHLAND, and TRYRED WITNESS ARCHIVES are really amazing examples and should definitely get more views.

A slight oversight: CH/SS was actually the first analog horror series on YouTube, Local58 just blew up and popularized the genre
  • I just wish the internet would stop treating everything as a trend, placing a nonexistent expiration date on everything.
  • Backrooms honestly got ruined when people started tossing in levels and monsters everywhere
  • @TheMadRatKing
Thank GOD somebody else mentioned the whole "The less you know about something, the scarier it is" concept. I've lost so much fear and suspense of things like the Backrooms or FNAF or Local58 PURELY because too much of it was analyzed and deeply explained to the point where I was just more intrigued about the world itself or something. The Backrooms are now just a cool fictional world to explore. There's nothing fearful about it anymore. That's also why so many other things stopped being scary to me. People just tried to explain too much of it, and now I've lost any fear of the unknown that made those particular things so scary to me specifically in the first place.

Ive felt the same way for so long. Most trends like these will hop onto their respective trend without realizing what made the original great to begin with. Petscop wasnt just "spooky game with bad graphics", but that seems what 99% of people get from it.
  • @cyanity1017
"these cool metaphysical dopplegangers called alternates that you cannot kill" NOT WITH THAT ATTITUDE!
  • @SwaggyG_2102
While I'm not trying to demonize it nor belittle it, Mandela Catalog is definitely one of the reasons that I think led to the analog horror genre to get so over saturated and less original over time.

so i’m currently in the middle of watching the video and here’s what i think right now, we’re in the “dark age” of analog horror, there maybe good ones but there’s many bad ones. But eventually things will get better for Analog Horror in the future, we’re just in the “dark age.” right now i don’t know what to feel about my series i’m currently making, so i’m trying hard to make it original and mix it with controversial stuff to make it good. But in the end hopefully it’ll end up good.
