One of my best memories from the 90s was Dime handing me a draft beer down from the stage from the headstock of his blue lightning Kiss dean..Then I got a pick..That's the perks of going to the show early.Saw Pantera 4 times in the 90s and they have topped every other concert I have been to and I go to alot.

What really made him so great is he was influenced by other guitarists but he didn’t try to be them. Too many imitators nowadays.

RIP Dime and Vinny Us teenagers of the late 80’s early 90’s were definitely spoiled with some of the greatest music ever written. It hasn’t been the same since.
  • @JaMeshuggah
RIP we miss you always Dime. Pantera was the GOAT
  • his playing was otherworldly... really an innovator... also makes a good case for solid state... (edit: that description of tube versus solid state is spot on... solid state='immediacy', tube='lag')... imo
  • Best quote about DIME ever! "Dimes guitar solos WERE the fire hazard" - love it -RIP Dimebag

My brother is also a guitar player. He went to school with Darryl and learned guitar from him. We lost touch long before they became famous. I will never forget that hair. RIP

Still remember exactly where I was in 2004 when I heard the news. RIP Dime your music will live on forever
  • Saw Pantera a couple times in the 90s, and 2000. Saw Dime and Vinnie play with Damageplan two days before the end. Still have Dimes pick from that show, literally one of the last ones he ever gave away. Dime is the reason I picked up a guitar, and he still put on the best live shows I've ever seen.

That solo on cemetery gates is still the most amazing and kick ass sound I've heard. Dimebag and a slash are by far my two favorite guitarist's

Heard a brief clip of Pantera on Headbangers Ball. Bought all the albums. Bought the Home Videos. Bought Dime's Dimeslime guitar. Picked up every magazine he was in. Watched Dime play Floods, 20 feet from my face in an arena. Watched him at Ozzfest. Had a baby in '03, which caused me to miss the Columbus Damageplan concert in '04. Dime was murdered in that club. My heart has been crushed ever since
  • The 1980s got me into metal, Nirvana had me pickup a guitar and Dimebag helped me shape my guitar tone and style. Pantera is my favorite band. I got to see the Great Southern Trendkill tour, Live 101 tour and Damage Plan before Dime’s death. I have been branded with a CFH tattoo since 1998. I miss this band. RIP Abbott brothers.

Eddie pulled the absolute class act with giving him the original 💜 RIP to greatest guitarists that ever lived
  • @CryptoBeanie
I'm a bass player and Dime had me rocking a long painted goatee and converse chuck taylor high tops in high school! I had the privilege of seeing them twice in my life and it was insanely good. I'd never seen people drink that much whiskey and go on to play the tightest, heaviest music I'd ever heard.
  • @redstallion415
Hits me in the feels every time the story of dimes end is told. You did it well. Rip dimes
  • @user-gx9fu5wz6x
He created his own sound!!!! And will never be duplicated. Rip dime and vinnie
  • One of the best memories I have is going to a Damage plan concert with my brother after years of listening to Pantera growing up together. He has passed too. R.I.P. Andrew, R.I.P. Dime
  • @scottbostic6247
You did well on this. From what I can tell, spot on. Thanks. Dimebag was definately an original.
  • @RISK-BREAKER
My very first concert was Pantera! Pops took me when I was five. I remember sitting on his shoulders in a leather jacket headbanging and the image of Dimebag Darrell absolutely shredding in an Ace Frehley shirt forever etched into my mind.
