Babe wake up, Welles is roasting our overlords

👇🏼 👍🏼 ...if The Benny Show brought you here!

It is scary how many people in these comments lack the critical thinking to read into the lyrics. He's not criticizing fat people, he's criticizing how it's virtually impossible to avoid eating crap in the USA.

Benny Johnson. It's his damn fault I ended up here.
  • I just keep thinking how tight it would be to be a critter in the woods out there
  • @Cameron-zv6mg
"They[Coca-Cola] did a self investigation like a Florida sheriff station, so you know they wont be found at fault." Damn.
  • @SweetpeaRie

Advertisements use to run that said 8 out of 10 doctors suggest Camel cigarettes. There's a lot of depth to these lyrics to anybody smart enough to Google.

I love how the dumb people are saying the song is going to far instead listening to the lyrics. He is saying is "your own damn fault" but he is using it as sarcasm. Just like doctors told us long ago that cigarettes were okay, they also say that real sugar was the enemy to get the bio engineered stuff on the table.

The fat shaming in the comments is insane considering the message of the song does not seem to be about fat people at all, but rather mega corporations who do their best to engineer things that are incredibly addictive and extremely bad for you. Why would he spend so much time talking about the companies and the ingredients, and "self-investigations," if the message was actually about self control. One last point that people are letting fly over their heads... Cigarette companies would use the claim that doctors recommend smoking "healthy brands." One such brand was Camel, and they used this slogan to sell them: "More doctors smoke Camels than any other brand." And it took us years to do anything about it legally. In my opinion, the true message of this song is that we need to stop shaming fat people, and start targeting sinister corporations that put absolute garbage in our food with no repercussions. Take some legal action, folks. Jesse Welles has not punched down so far, why would he start now?
  • Whoah.. I just listened 10 times in a row in disbelief. You captured in a song how I’ve felt my entire life, battling my weight, surviving multiple eating disorders, trying every diet on earth, exercising until I collapsed. The culture of shame is so strong in the U.S. that an intelligent conversation about health and weight is impossible, including with doctors. The company’s profiting off our demise orchestrate a society where we blame the individual and bully others for entertainment. That way we’re too ashamed and distracted to ever look closely at the people making our food, medicines, etc. I’ve been searching all my life for this song and I’m very grateful to the algorithm tonight for bringing me here. Please keep writing songs, you’re extremely talented and very intelligent.

Welles wakes up every day and thinks "What massive social issue can I parody and call out in 2 minutes today?" Well done. The processed food to medical debt pipeline is a monster.

The world needs a Jesse Welles album as soon as possible! I can't stop listening to War Isn't Murder. I understand why comments are turned off on that video but let me say it's such an amazing song! It has touched me in a way that no other song ever has and I think the whole world needs to hear it. I've been showing everyone I know. Getting the good word out. Thank you for all this amazing music! We need this right now.
  • Seen this video on @Benny Johnsons channel. I had to see this for myself. Love it!!!
  • @DavidStickney
Benny Johnson did a short with this song, subbed! :)
  • @SmokesKwazukii
‘self investigation like a florida sheriff station..’ is crazy lmao
  • I went to the barber today and we got to talkin about music. I told him I liked early 90s alternative/grunge but I’m also a Dylan fan. He said well you’ve got to hear this dude I came across last week. I already knew he was going to bust out some Jesse Welles. I said I’m one step ahead of ya brother. I’ve been listening to him for a few weeks now lol. You’re buzzin man. You’re about to blow up big time.

Well, personally I love this song and the artist. A breath of fresh air.
  • I'd like to think the "cancelled" shorts that lead ALL of us here was a clever ploy that i refuse to be mad about
