The Grey Havens was an Elvish port city on the Gulf of Lune in the Elven realm of Lindon in Middle-earth. The port was used to sail to Valinor (the Undying Lands). Frodo, Galdalf, Bilbo, Galadriel, Elrond, and others sailed from The Grey Havens at the end of the story in The Lord of the Rings. Many don't know that other well-known characters also sailed to the Undying Lands, including Samwise, Gimli, and Legolas.

"There's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo......and its worth fighting for." - Sam
  • This may sound dorky, but I have made it known to my loved ones that if I have a terminal illness and am in my last days, I want this played in my ears towards the end.
  • Dislikes are from people who cried so much that they couldn't see the difference between like and dislike.

And he lived happily ever after... to the end of his days.

I'll say it again.... It's amazing to miss a place you've never been to.
  • “PIPPIN: I didn't think it would end this way. GANDALF: End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it. PIPPIN: What? Gandalf? See what? GANDALF: White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise. PIPPIN: Well, that isn't so bad. GANDALF: No. No, it isn't.”

"Farewell... my brave Hobbits. My work is now finished. Here at last, on the shores of the sea... comes the end of our Fellowship. I will not say, Do not weep... not all tears are an evil."' That last bit there still resonates with me. It's not a bad thing to cry. It's not so terrible to express grief or mourn. The pain of loss is the evidence of happy memories and love-spent times. Express the ache that you have, because it shows how good the thing truly was. To let go of something or someone is just a part of the experience of life. It's the one time we get to feel the way we feel. The one chance we have to be alive. Even to cry, to weep, to grieve, is a good thing.

Just what I needed as I try to process the fact that my mother does not have much longer on this world. The idea of her boarding a ship to Valinor after the work she has done here on earth is one of the most beautiful visions that I could have ever imagined. And here it is. I'm not going to say that I'm not crying, I am. But for joy and peace for her after a lifetime of toil and work. This I wish for her. Only the Lord of the Rings can express my emotions without words, and you, of course. Thank you most deeply.
  • "To the Sea, to the Sea! The white gulls are crying, The wind is blowing and the white foam is flying. West, west away, the round sun is falling. Grey ship, grey ship, do you hear them calling, The voice of my people that have gone before me? I will leave, I will leave the woods that bore me; For our days are ending and our years are failing. I will pass the wide waters lonely sailing. Long are the waves on the Last Shore falling, Sweet are the voices of the Lost Isle calling, In Eressea, in Elvenhome that no man can discover, Where the leaves fall not: land of my people forever!" -Legolas
  • To all those who are still listening to this amazing musical score in 2023, I wish you an amazing and prosperous year ahead. When you listen to this, you will realise that your own journey has began and new adventures lay ahead for you, just as it did for Bilbo and Frodo.
  • Thanks a lot for telling that Gimli also sailed to the Undying Lands...I don't know why I am so much happy for Gimli, son of Gloin.
  • “And the ship went out into the High Sea and passed into the West, until at last on a night of rain Frodo smelled a sweet fragrance on the air and heard the sound of singing that came over the water. And then it seemed to him that as in his dream in the house of Bombadil, the grey rain-curtain turned all to silver glass and was rolled back, and he beheld white shores and beyond them a far green country under a swift sunrise.”

The greatest soundtrack ever made to.... The greatest film trilogy ever made to... The greatest story ever written... Thank you professor Tolkien.
  • "Legolas Greenleaf long under tree In joy thou hast lived. Beware of the Sea! If thou hearest the cry of the gull on the shore, Thy heart shall then rest in the forest no more." -Galadriel
  • So if anyone wonders: Sam went to the Undying lands as the last Ringbearer at 96 years old. Merry and Pippin visited Eomer King, then both died around 103-105 and were laid to rest beside Aragorn after he died, which Aragorn lived well over 300 years and was the greatest king Gondor ever knew. Legolas finally grew weary of Middle Earth after the death of Aragorn and called on his friend Gimli, Lord of Dwarves, and Legolas BUILT a ship to The Undying Lands. Gimli was the first and only Dearf to ever go.

Did anyone else feel an overwhelming sense of peace of mind knowing Sam and Frodo were reunited in the undying lands? Because I sure did.

Easily one of the saddest moments, at the end of a film, in history.

"My beloved human. I mean you, the one on the opposite end of this line. You're there right now, reading my words as they unfold for the very first time for you. I have come to tell you how beautiful you really are. I know everything you have been through. That's because I am you. I'm your future self. Here in the future, on this very special day, everyone has been given a paper and one pen to contact their past self. I don't know whether my words will truly reach you, but if they do, by now you probably realize that I am doing just that - or, should I say, you are. Long have I stared blankly into this paper - and scrutinized what words to lay on it. Long have I ruminated in silence. What to tell you? What to tell myself? When I look around for inspiration, I see people rushing in with various advice and apologies and prophecies. Asking their past self to change this and that. To do their bidding. To act like their puppets. And I just chuckle. I look at you, and I gasp in astonishment. You have come so far, haven't you? I admire you so much. Perhaps you may feel a bit of sadness rub off on you. 'Why me?' you may be asking. 'Why will everyone receive advice but me? Why won't you give me some warning? Why won't you show me the best course of action?' And my answer is: You are perfect. You are exactly where you need to be, listening to this music. Despite the trouble you'll go through, your path will lead you to me - exactly to where I am today. And everything will be okay. My dear self, I'm not coming with advice nor prophecies because you don't need to change anything. One day, you'll sit here and smile to yourself because you will understand. So cheer up, relax, and enjoy the music. That is all you need to do right now. With love, - you."
