13 Years ago, the first Target opened in New York City. Due to recent events, this very same target store is now closing.

  • I can't believe we came to a point where stealing is practically legal and there are no consequences. we are all doomed

Can’t say that I blame Target for leaving…😮😢
  • @FrostmourneFK
Why are they blurring the faces of the shoplifters? You have no right to privacy if you are committing a crime.
  • When you steal you don't hurt the company. You hurt the employee's and the communities.

I'm black. In recent years it's become fashionable for activists to ignore this, or even worse, try to explain it away as "The unheard voices trying to feed their families" THAT'S BULLSHIT I came up poor. My parents would NEVER use that as an excuse to commit crimes. It's insulting to hard working black people everywhere who have to work for every dime to simply have someone take it. It's the same with illegal immigration. There is a legal way to enter a country. Is it inconvenient? Yes. So is working your ass off to do things the legal way. But if we want to live in a society, not a jungle, we have to obey rules. Voting for soft on crime candidates will destroy a community. I don't get why this is hard to understand

Hold criminals accountable and things will get better.
  • I cannot imagine any brick and mortar stores in these cities staying open. Makes u worry that the thieves will just start robbing peoples homes when they have no access to stores.

I remember talks about food deserts and how “minorities were being discriminated against because companies wouldn’t setup infrastructure around them, it was a social issue, etc” How much you wanna bet even after this it’s not going to be the fault of their own actions?

I remember a few years ago when cities started to just stop prosecuting thefts like these, and people laughed when others said that the stores will eventually leave if they see enough theft. Well it's happening, and now those same people who laughed are freaking out that their local grocery store is shutting down. This in NYC is not an isolated incident. Portland, San Francisco, other major cities who voted and chose this path are facing similar issues.
  • If you do not hold these thieves accountable, they will move from business to business taking and stealing. As one business closes, they will go to the next business and so on and so forth until there will not be any businesses open. I have lived through the 70s,80s,90s and early 2000s and never saw this type of foolishness and never saw accountability and responsibility this low in our society. This is unbelievable !!!

In Florida, being part of a shoplifting ring is now 30 years in prison with exercise on a chain gang. Shoplifting is down, oddly enough.
  • @Tbonesteak23
I as a foreigner could never understand why stopping prosecuting crimes would be considered "progressive" in the states
  • I don’t blame target at all. I blame the thieves. They ruined everything.
  • @darrylramsey6232
Im hooked on your style of reporting. Way better than traditional reporting

I used to work at target within their loss prevention department. Insurance does not cover theft/shrinkage and a lot of products at target are IOU’s from vendors. So basically the vendor pays target to stock and Target pays the vendor from the sale. If items get stolen before it’s sold, Target owes the vendor the full amount.

The people in the neighborhood who depend on stores like this are the real victims. The thieves don’t care.
  • @Magicmike12
Funny thing is that the people stealing from these stores are stores that are in there neighborhoods then they get upset when they leave🤣🤣🤣
