Hey Danny, pastry student here. I think the actual translation error was that they wanted you to use gum paste instead of sugar paste. Sugar paste IS fondant, and unlike gum paste fondant does not harden. In order to make gum paste you add 1-2 tsp of tylose powder per lb of fondant and let it sit for a bit. Neither do well with moisture 😬 and they get soggy/tacky if you try and paint them. To paint fondant AND gum paste before they’re rolled out you gotta use gloves and knead gel color into it To paint fondant after it’s rolled out mix vodka and gel food coloring since the alcohol evaporates fairly quickly and then paint on top. To paint gum paste once it’s hardened most just use edible dust coloring and/or luster dust (not necessarily edible)

The funniest part of this video isn't him making fun of the pranks, but the fact that he doesn't have any idea what's in his kitchen as if he's never been in there before.
