This situation proves that no matter how star-studded or dream like a match is, a great wrestling story is what really grabs the people.

It would have looked worse if Cody was excited to give up his main event spot after winning RR. Cody gave an authentic reaction.

Gerwitz has been The Rock’s boy for years. He knows who is buttering his bread. That’s all he cares about.
  • @KamoMustafaWWE
Brian Gewirtz: How bout a smile, Cody? Cody Rhodes: How bout you piss off, Brian?
  • It's so insane that Gerwitz thinks the problem was Cody and not Rock's last minute "No, wait, me me me!" nonsense. Like, once Cody wins the Rumble, it's too late. Anything else makes Cody look like a numbnuts. And nearly did. Shows what a hack Gerwitz is that he can't admit that he and his master nearly blew WWE's biggest main event in years. "No no! It wasn't me!"
  • Reminder , Brian Gerwitz is the same writer who once booked Stone Cold losing to Brock Lesnar in 2002 King of the Ring qualifiers on random RAW episode with 0 buildup & storyline until Austin walked out . This writer is worst like Vince Russo
  • @tonychaaya3330
If Cody actually did it while happy, he would have insantly turned into stardust in that ring
  • The Rock as Count The Monet, Jim as Béarnaise and Brian Gerwitz as the piss boy has to be one of the best thumbnails ever
  • @BlackStrey
Him not being happy about giving up wrestlemania was the saving grace to turn this around believably, Cody might not have recovered from that one if he listened to that writer.
  • @misterelom
Cody being cheerful about giving up his WM spot wouldn't make a lick of sense. Imagine Austin giving up his WM14 shot at HBK because Hogan popped out of nowhere and convinced Austin to let him step in and Austin being like "Oh hell yeah Hulkster, open up a can of whoop ass on HBK!" Lol
  • Seven Bucks out here booking like the Young Bucks. I'm glad Cody didn't let them bury him
  • So Cody was supposed to grind for another year with fans backing him up, win the Rumble again, just so he can happily give up his spot up to The Rock? That writer is on The Rock’s lap!
  • @Tyranno-Bore-Us
The fact that The Rock is so ego -blind that he thought he could just usurp Cody's spot at the top like he was some beloved Messiah is hilarious & disgusting.
  • @GojiAnguirus
The Rock is turning into Hulk Hogan more & more w/each passing day. The ego, the "That doesn't work for me BROTHER" attitude & the lying. Oh & the roids.
  • @tolkienist7905
The idea of the Rock taking Cody's place was simply toxic. Cody has earned everything he has with blood and sweat. The idea of the Rock being handed it by this same person makes no sense whatsoever and reeks of unearned entitlement. Not to mention the joke it would make out of the Royal Rumble itself. Any half way decent writer would instinctively understand this. Unless they were a hack.

The Rock politic his way to WM40 but WWE will try to show the fans that it was part of plan 😂😂. HHH booking and end goal was always Cody vs Roman 2, until The Rock came in to clean his dirty laundry after the controversies he had outside of wrestling. Their was difinetly power struggle between HHH and The Rock behind scenes, This is more evident when Steve Austin was reached at the last moment by WWE for his special appearance in WM40 only for Undertaker to take the call. The Rock politics behind scnes burried the Royal Rumble win in that particular SmackDown segment. Now The Rock as per rumours have even told LA Knight to stop doing the Taunts before he does his Elbow Drop. 😂😂 I like the wrestling character "The Rock", i liked his contribution to WM40 as a heel, but Dwayne Johnson is a different story he is a two face celebrity. The Rock is speed running to becoming another Hulk Hogan.

its funny how the ones that get to the VERY top and refuse to ever go away all become universally hated at some point for being super marks for themselves
  • 2 Facts: 1. Gerwirtz is responsible for the poorly-acted, backstage cringe comedy segment we've been subjected to on nearly all WWE TV shows for the last 24 years. 2. Gerwirtz is largely responsible for killing off millions of WWF fans from the Attitude-era with his cringe comedy writing. These fans tuned out over the course of 2000-2004 and never came back--now they listen to wrestling podcasts that discuss how badly wrestling lost the plot. Russo gets the full heat for both of these.
