Great video, highlighting a problem I have been shielded from for many years because of my size. Coming up with an idea, then building that idea are the two most challenging parts of creating redstone content. These people (there's plenty more as well) bypass both these painstaking parts of the process. It's almost impossible to compete with YouTube channels that do this, as they can put out 5-6 seemingly original pieces of content per week that their unknowing fans eat up. As I say, I am privileged that I don't face this problem often, with only the boldest stealing my work, but my heart always goes out to the small/mid size YouTubers who are getting their content taken left and right. I may end up making a video on this topic myself.

Loved to see this! Having my designs stolen and used in literally hundreds of videos with varying degree of credit, from absolutely non to a mention in the description, or my personal favourite: "Based on a design by ..." while not even 1 block is changed, I certainly feel your pain. Unfortunately not many will see this - but it's still important!
  • The shulkercraft one wasn't that bad, they gave credit to one of the creators, and it seemed like an honest mistake that they didn't realize 2 people made it. They also ended up giving credit after they were told. Don't think that they should be called "THIEVES" for that.

I absolutely adore the fact that the actual redstone engineers are so supportive and wholesome with each other! Seeing Mumbo complimenting Purple’s work, actively encouraging his audience to check out his channel and even going as far as to say he might not have been able to do it himself just warmed my heart and made me feel like I was floating on a cloud :), it’s no surprise that they all unite when these asshole thieves come in!
  • @Metricate
Fully support this. It's painstaking seeing creators getting away with it.
  • @GearShift
I feel like redstoners never get the credit they deserve because they ACTUALLY take time to make their videos! I subscribed 😉
  • As a person who barely knows how Redstone works, it feels demoralising knowing that the tutorial of a contraption that has helped me was actually stolen from someone else. And with the massive amount of channels and videos, it is difficult to see who posted what first, and who deserves the real credit. Thank you for exposing some of these people, hopefully you and the rest of content creators will receive their proper credit in the future.
  • Its so good seeing someone FINALLY taking a stand against these "Redstone Thieves" I my self wanted to start uploading my own original Redstone builds but I was scared they would get stolen and I would have no credit for it but i think for now i will upload a different Type of MC video
  • @Squilly4
It's really nice seeing these people getting called out more and more recently, thanks for making this video Also, you have a really nice voice. What mic do you use?
  • @ColonelS
This is one of my biggest fears as a small redstoner. I don’t want my stuff being re uploaded or remade by other people on YouTube, Reddit, etc. Thank you for bringing some new awareness to this
  • @stenzstenz8561
To be fair to Shulkercraft, Lauri did seem genuinely apologetic for the mistake and wanted to learn from the experience to do better moving forward. Also from context given in this video, it seems like it was an honest mistake to not credit you, rather than malicious stealing
  • @Donnnyyy
Damb I feel really bad because I'm new to the community and I watched some of these thinking they made it. Thanks for shining light on this
  • @BowelSyndrome
I remember how I used to get inspired by amazing creators like you and Mumbo to make countless redstone doors that spring up in my mind. I spent about 7 hours as a kid making an exit and entry floor piston door, and about 10 hours as a teenager making a circular floor vault door. Both of them were extremely fun to make, but that barely scratches the surface of the countless hours redstone engineers put into their builds. I feel betrayed that such high sub content creators can just feel entitled to pluck whatever they want from a small youtube channel and get away with it. Good on you Purpledragonnuke!
  • @hitzcritz
Nice to see redstoners finally getting a platform to call out these leeches. Excellent video!
  • @L4T3_
It is heartwarming to see how you got from around 10k subscribers to over 100k in less than a year! Happy to ve part of your journey to the top! ❤🎉
  • @calciamno3415
I actually want to defend Shulkercraft in this scenario. They make super clear and simple no bs tutorials without all the bloat. Yes he did have the problem of not giving credit before, but nowadays he gives credit in the beginning of the video. This helps us check the initial video if we want a more in depth explaination
  • @teenspider
The fact that he has been making redstone stuff on YouTube for YEARS and only has 13.6K subscribers, even getting STOLEN from bigger YouTubers. I hope you get the support you deserve!
  • I remember finding this channel a long time ago and it wasn’t too active and now you are pumping out high quality content nice
  • @flinttv2963
I do redstone all the time, one was this one utilising village farmers to break crops and chuck it into a hopper. After some research i saw it had been done before, but when people either, A) wrongly accuse you of stealing, or B) use things without credit, it makes me wanna chuck em in a mob grinder. Great video that adresses a peoblem wider than just redstone. Keep it up!
