Before getting too deep, Barrells are a non-entity container. So they help to reduce lag.

Barrels are quite nice if you need to conserve space because you don't need an empty space above them. But the dual chest reduces the ui's you need to interact with and having barrels can make working with villagers more difficult because they will claim the barrels as workstations and you have to break all your barrels to get anything other than a fisherman...

I incorporate barrels into my builds. Adds neat details to builds and nifty storage. Really easy organizing too.

Barrel can still be opened if there's block on top of it, While chest can be merged and it gives more slot to place item in it

if double barrels were a thing id 100% be on barrels side

there's 3 reasons i don't use barrels. they're a workstation, which is annoying if you have nearby villagers. you use slabs, which is more annoying to craft. and they cannot be waterlogged, which means creepers are gonna blow up my damn barrels.

Barrels are more server-friendly and silent, and relatively cheaper. Chests are easier to craft, are more nostalgic and can be combined into a double chest, and also receives Christmas textures. Both have their benefits, meaning this war was ultimately pointless and people should be allowed to like whatever they wish to like, as long as it does not hurt others, and I'd say liking a different but very similar storage method is not harmful to anyone unless you enforce it.

I love barrels, they do not need an extra space to open, they sound nice, they look nice, they cost less, and "oh but u get double chests not double barrlrs" Yea you dont deserve double chests when they are as unorganised and full of trash like my room
