  • Anyone who claimed that The Exorcist "glorified Satan" clearly didn't watch the actual movie.
  • @iheartbusterk82
Just wanted to tell the Dead Meat team how much I’ve enjoyed this series and can’t wait for season 2.
  • @SuperFlik
Jane Fonda not wanting the role because she "doesn't believe in magic" is wild to me. Like you're an actor? None of this is real.
  • the fact that blair and burstyn both still deal with back pain from this sours the movie a bit for me, particularly with burstyn considering the cause of hers was deliberate on friedkin’s part. i hate when asshole directors taint their movies with their shitty behavior on set
  • Why is it so difficult for movie sets to treat child actors like actual children and not abuse them to the point of lasting physical consequences? They're children! You shouldn't even be treating adult actors like that!
  • Weird esoteric fun fact about pazuzu: in Mesopotamien mythology and religion he was actually a protector of children and a healer of children and people, but he was listed as a demon along with several other deities and spirits in the lesser key of Solomon
  • Production Tales from Hell has never been a more fitting title. Very nice work.

It hasn't been said enough, this series is so top notch. Don't stop making episodes!
  • @coolnerdlll6053
Fun fact: William Friedkin went on to direct a movie called Cruising that was inspired by Paul Bateson's murders. I honestly find that darkly hilarious.
  • @AshleyGrenstone
"They're coming to get you barbara" - no wait, wrong film 😅
  • @jjenk911
Jason Miller muscled his way into his role is the most badass thing I've ever heard of.
  • Saw the Exorcist, the Car , Halloween, and Jaws all the same weekend at 8 ... Scariest weekend ever 💀

I've never understood why when people point to a film being cursed when people die during or after production for entirely unrelated reasons. Like... people die. That's a fundamental fact of life. Why does that have to be blamed on a specific production? Not to mention that if this had been any other genre of movie chances are nobody would have deemed it cursed as a result of the deaths, but because it's a horror movie - and a controversial one at that - then people jump to it somehow being the film's fault. So weird.
  • @emanuelcr
One of my favorite movies of all time and I'm so glad that Chauncey (and, soon, James) is talking about it. A fun personal fact is that I was ONLY seven or eight years old when I bought a second hand comic book and the double page centerfold splash page was the FULL FACE OF POSSESSED REGAN... Lemme just say I didnt sleep properly for one or two weeks after that. 😅

The Omen's production was truly from hell I've heard. I hope Omen gets a kill count one day too. The exorcist is a true horror classic. Awesome to hear it's hard production story.

0:25 Just a little note: while The Exorcist was the first horror film nominated for Best Picture, it wasn’t the first horror movie nominated period. In fact, just a few years prior, Ruth Gordon won Best Supporting Actress for Rosemary’s Baby!

Fun fact, the man who played Father Dyer was an actual Jesuit Catholic priest, Father William O'Malley. He also served as a technical advisor on the religious aspects of the film. He was a teacher at my Highschool in Western NY for many years, before ending up at a different High School where he taught til his death.
  • @V2K.04
    “Exorcism at Tiffany’s” i love that 😭
  • @sagecorduroy
i’ve been loving this series so much!! i love how much each episode feels like a tea-spilling session while respecting the sensitive topics (: on that note, i can’t even imagine what Linda Blair went through. the vitriol must’ve been terrifying because hate mail in the 70s had to literally be sent through the mail; which means the people who went through that trouble must’ve been extremely angry and nasty.
  • If y’all see this—thank you Chauncey, James, Chelsea, and the rest of the Dead Meat team. As a horror-fanatic ‘90s kid, this channel hits a spot in my soul that nothing else does. Might I suggest branching out even more into these longer-form breakdown-style videos? In my opinion, PTFH is better than Cursed Films, a network show also about ‘cursed’ productions, in my opinion, and I really see a place for The Kill Count, this, and anything else y’all do along the bigger YT or maybe eventually network shows. YT is the new TV anyway. Great, great stuff, from one freaky ghoul to others. Keep ‘em coming, pls.
