jenna ortega's scream when she finds the body in the basement is just pure gold. it's already become iconic in its own right and is a defining image of the movie. that's the kind of scream that'll be remembered in slasher history for years.
  • @SlenWash
It's weird how NO ONE ever mentions how Kid Cudi is also an executive producer on X as well. I find his involvement on that level really fascinating.
  • @Fnaffan777
I love that in X the younger characters try to help the elders at first instead of immediately trying to hurt them or be cliche dickish teens like you would expect in a slasher.
  • Fun fact! Right after Jenna Ortega filmed her kill, she had the Wednesday audition which she was bleeding from a cut from the fake gun! And she asked for more blood, which Tim burton liked! Edit: I just wanted to share- there are sooo many replies/arguments, lmao

I’m so glad the copyright issue with this kill count got resolved so quickly. Fridays are my favorite day of the week and Kill Counts are a large part of that
  • The way you said “you made Zoran cry” sounded like a parent talking about their child 😂😂😂
  • @merlinho0t
What you said about Pearl and Howard having sex and it having a hilarious/disgusted reaction from the audience was so true. They basically just demonstrated the point of the movie. X hit me different than most other slashers, it had a surprising amount of layers and small intricate details that I think just went over a lot of peoples heads. Pearl (the sequel) seems to be getting a more positive review from audiences thankfully though, I thought it was a million times better and deeper than X.

Maxine is an interesting character because her writing separates her from every other female protagonist in a slasher. She’s concerned about her career, and she constantly tries to manifest success by telling herself “you’re a fucking star.” This writing is so compelling, especially because it clashes with Pearl’s character, who destroyed her life for one audition that was completely taken out from underneath her. I’m really excited to see MAXXXINE, mostly because I’m curious to see how Maxine will turn out.
  • That deathgasm killcount was a really good one and praised the film so much. And the fact you called out that it was the director who hit you with the strike not the studio, that's just icky. When a studio does it, it's annoying but expected and your mind goes to some greedy suits who don't know what they're doing. The director doing it feels worse because it feels more personal and really reflects poorly on the director. Like he's punishing you and Zoran for enjoying his movie and introducing it to millions who hadn't even heard of it. I had it on my watch list because of the kill count but ima take it off now.
  • @iKendles
I did not expect the alligator scene, I genuinely was expecting pearl to try to drown her and fail miserably
  • @MrTeteu200
Really hits differently when the slasher characters are not dicks for no reason but actually good people having their gentleness exploited for a gore end, brings a whole new layer of horror and paranoia.

I actually really liked Jackson’s death. Even though it was a single gunshot and was mostly off screen, it was layered with tragic symbolism and hidden meaning in so many ways. The swampy setting mirrors the rice paddies of Vietnam in many ways; it seems that Jackson escaped one jungle filled with farmers trying to shoot him only to die in another jungle, with another farmer shooting at him. There’s also this unsettling and simultaneous convergence of youth/age, Jackson and Howard’s shared military experience and the unspoken hierarchy connoted between them, and the parallel racial hierarchy between the two men, which has been hinted at during multiple different points of the film, with the pornographic racialized tropes that Jackson’s character represents in the eyes of the viewer, of RJ, and of Howard. In my opinion, while the least gory, it was most definitely the saddest, most symbolic, and most poignant death in the film.
  • @oxfopee
The fact that every kill in this movie is foreshadowed, just makes this movie so much better than it already is
  • @definitelymdt
I laughed so hard when Pearl went flying when she shot the shotgun, it looked goofy and so sudden for me. Didn't expect it.
  • @ace-of-bats
Brittany Snow and Kid Cudi totally won me over in this movie. They give their characters so much warmth and nuance and humanity. I want to see whole movie just about these two — one in which they get to live happily every after.
  • @chloeareeya
i actually love how the characters were likable and not just stereotypical douches. each character had every chance to be a dick, especially towards Howard and Pearl, but they were. all always so kind.
  • I know the copyright claims have been hard on you James and all the of the Dead Meat team, but once again you all came together and made another amazing kill count! Hope you’re all okay!
  • @Johnny-ci8mw
10:38 I was not expecting her to be so soft spoken. It gave me chills. The difference between her and Maxine and Pearl just confirms how good of an actress she is.
  • I think it was kinda interesting how Wayne stepping on the nail in the barn might have been for shadow early in the film. When Howard asked Wayne if he severed in the military, Wayne responded no, because he was flat footed. Flat footed is a condition wear a person’s entire foot touches the floor when standing, because they didn’t develop any arches in their feet. I might be pulling straws, but thought it was interesting to point out.
