A Toyota Master Diagnostic Technician goes over Toyota's new engine technical review in simple and easy to understand terms.

The new A25A-FKS and A25A-FXS engine from Toyota is widely popular engine in 2020 across multiple Toyota models both gasoline only and toyota hybrid models.

This engine is a marvel of engineering with so many advancements in technology. It is possibly one of the most advanced and efficient Toyota engine ever made.

In this series I will go over it's key features that makes it different than other engines.

In this part of the series I will go over the following systems of the engine :

1- Cooling system : With an electric water pump this engine gets a rapid warm up thanks to it's priority cooling system using valves to direct coolant where needed.

2-Lubrication system : Variable pressure oil pump makes load on the engine low while optimizing pressure for continuous engine lubrication at all engine speeds. The use of 0W16 oil is a must in this engine.

3-Direct injection system D4S is a genius system using both Direct and Port injectors therefore resolving the issues with direct injection carbon build up common on direct injection only engines.

4-Exhaust Gas recirculation : The system is back on gasoline only models.

Don’t understand the thumbs down, this guy is freaking awesome. I wish he was my mechanic! Oh wait, those German car guys he referenced......those must be the haters!! 🧐

The port injection allows fuel flow over the intake valves to remove carbon, it’s also makes better low rpm torque using port vs direct. The other thing it allows is for the engine to go through a direct injection self cleaning cycle during hot idle. The direct injectors actually have the ability to blow the carbon off of their tips and sides while the engine runs on the port injectors. Genius system.

Glad I ran into this series. Knowing more about the technology that comes into these vehicles makes you (as a common person) appreciate it even more!

I have this engine in my 2020 Rav 4 Hybrid. Glad he explained why the car goes from super quiet to a little shake and some rumbling. Just means it went from port to direct injected. Your channel is awesome! Keep up the great work.
  • This is the high quality content I love!! Full of tech specs that’s very good to know!
  • Thank you for another fine video! I've had my 2019 Camry two trouble free years and am glad to hear its 2.5L engine appears to be a good one. I've had a lot of questions about this engine and you answered most of them!

I have a new RAV 4 coming in a few weeks time and I've looked at many videos to familiarise myself in advance. I just wanted to say that yours are, for me at least, light years ahead of all the others. Much appreciated.

Thanks for doing this series. I learned a lot about this engine. Just placed an order for a 2022 Rav4 XLE Premium about a week ago and now I get to wait.

When Toyota first came out with this engine a few years ago in it's Camry line, I could see it's potential. Probably the biggest reason why my next car will definitely be a Toyota product. You've sealed the deal...many thanks.
  • Yup, got a 2020 Rav4 12 weeks ago, love the engine, the 8 speed auto. Also, really amazed with the MPG's. Also, a big plus, reliable and easy to maintain.
  • @wartrain12
Ty! I'm learning so much from you. This is giving me confidence to move forward a late model rav4
  • Great info for Toyota owners. You give great advice. Much prefer your channel rather than going thru tons of mombo-jumbo online trying to find “creditable” advice. Thank you.
  • @AlexBAlixir98
Thanks for explaining this in detailed but simple way.
  • @billdone2199
Excellent explanation of the implementation of direct & multiport fuel injection! Have 2020 and notice the pinging occasionally. Always becomes gohstly silent underload. Good stuff

I have a 2020 Toyota Highlander Hybrid that I got in November and watching your videos has really made me respect the Toyota brand, plus knowing what's in my vehicle is sooo cool
  • @JD0333
Thank you for explaining where all the noise is coming from on this engine and why sometimes it is much more quiet. I have the 2.5 in my 2019 rav4 hybrid that I bought preowned and I thought something was wrong with it but your explanation helps put me at ease. You are the best at explaining how my Toyota preforms and I'm glad I found your channel, God Bless.
  • Thank you so much for this video. I'm currently on the hunt for a used XV70 camry and I've been curious about their new engine technology and how it works. There's not a lot of explanations out there. So this was really educational
  • @TommyG11814
You do some of the best automotive videos I've seen. Great job.
  • @klapec_
Hi AMD, greetings from Poland! :) I've got the 2020 Corolla TS with the 2.0 Dynamic Force engine (M20A-FXS I believe). Keep up the good work, I'm learning so much stuff from your videos, I love them!
