I wrote this while listening to this ❤❤ “When I was young I thought the world was Black and white, there was only good and evil. As all little kids believe, I thought I was good. But I was wrong on several accounts. There is so much in between good and evil, it gets all muddy. Grey if you like the color example. Anyway I digress. The lines are so hard to see, and who am I to draw them?” Aurora spun the wine around her glass before taking a sip. “So when you, the self proclaimed heroes, come barging in, uninvited might I add, and shout about how you’ve come to kill the evil queen, well I have just one question. What makes you so good compared to me?” Aurora calmly took another sip of the red wine and placed her glass on the table next to her. She slowly rose from her throne and began walking methodically down the steps to the foyer where the heroes stood. “Your self righteous piety has made you blind. You killed at least three of my guards to be here. You have ravaged villages to get what you need to be here. You have stolen to be here. The only thing that separates what you have done from what I have done is that I don’t lie to myself to sleep at night.” Aurora reached out her long, cold fingers, and grabbed the leader's face. She lifted it so their eyes connected. “Now what makes you, as small and insignificant as you are, worthy of drawing the lines of what good and evil means?” She was so close to the leader's face it looked as if she could kiss him if she wanted. “The gods have given me the right to destroy you and your evil.” the hero said, brave faced. Aurora smirked. “The same gods that fear me? The same gods that have taken everything from me, yet still I stand here? The same gods that won’t face me themselves?” a fire lit within Aurora her grip on the leader's chin loosened only for her to grab his face and squeeze his cheeks between her fingers. “Those Gods mean nothing to me, so long as they send children to fight their battles.” She pulled the boy's face in and kissed his cheek softly. The boy began to crumble under her grasp. The other three heroes gasped in shock and raised their weapons. With a flick of her wrist they frose. She slowly and quietly pulled the dagger from it's holster on her hip, and asked mostly to herself, “I don’t suppose any of you want to join me?” she paused and looked at their frozen faces. “I didn’t think so.” she said with a sigh, she almost seemed remorseful. She lifted the dagger and in three fluid motions, slit each of their throats. The bodies slid to the floor, one by one, dying the while marble red. Aurora turned on her heel and walked back up to her throne. The only noise was the echoing of her heels clicking on the stone floors. When she reached her throne she turned and looked over her massacre, and quietly spoke into the universe, “why is it always children?” she sunk into her throne and picked up her glass of wine. “I suppose it is as it will be. Send your next champion almighty great ones.” she spit, raising the glass to her lips and taking a deep swig.
