Microsoft Says Underlying Cause of IT Issue Has Been Fixed

Microsoft says it has fixed the underlying cause of the global IT outage which has grounded flights and hobbled businesses and services around the world. CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz posted on X on Friday that the fault had been identified and “a fix has been deployed,” adding that it wasn’t a cyberattack. Jonathan Ferro and Guy Johnson report.

    Microsoft should compensate the world for losses caused by software anomalies.

    The M365 issue from earlier which mentioned at 0:11 was unrelated with the Crowdstrike BSOD issue. These are two separated issues. The later one has much bigger impact.
  • Easy to say 'do not depend on one supplier', just need to be ready to pay the extra cost. In any case, it is a good practice to do a progressive deployment of massive sw updates. And test it better by the supplier (eg Crowdstrike) and customer (eg Microsoft).
