The prog titan joins us in the studio with a bevvy of classic gear!

Welcome to the show. We are delighted to welcome Steve Rothery to the show… Steve is a founding member of UK progressive rock band, Marillion, now into their fifth decade of highly successful recording and touring. Alongside many other projects Steve also has his own band and is showing little sign of slowing down in terms of writing, producing and making great music.
He's taken a day out from that busy schedule and joined us to walk through some of the key gear down the years AND get a look at that now legendary Squier Strat.
Enjoy the show!

Big thanks to Andy Rotheram for the considerable assistance today!

  • Steve Rothery, the reason I first picked up a guitar 37 years ago. Thanks so much for this one, guys. Such a melodic, lyrical player ❤
  • The man himself. Underrated. Under the radar. Supremely gifted.
  • @pmunkey1
Steve is the sound of my childhood, early teens. The Brave album is still one of my favourite guitar albums. 🎉
  • One of my absolute favorite guitar players. Textbook feel over technique. Every note just hits ❤
  • @kester30
Sometimes guitar playing can feel competitive and the 'musical' aspect gets a bit forgotten. Steve is the exact opposite of that, such a beautiful player.
  • I don't know what rock I've been under, but SO glad you Gents introduced me to Steve and Marillion! Really enjoyed this episode and Steve has a new fan.
  • Steve rothery is so underated as a guitarist.the man can move you to tears with his solos. Glad you invited him on your show guys.interesting watch.thankyou.😊
  • Steve Rothery is one of my favorite guitarists! Thank you for bringing him in for this interview and equipment show & tell.
  • My FAVORITE guitarist, bar none!! LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Steve Rothery!!!
  • @Meylan191083
One of my favourite guitarists. Fantastic to see him on here.
  • I had a serious accident last year, and lost most of the use of the use of my left hand; I will never pick up a guitar ever again - I have been playing almost 15 years. Steve is and always be my favourite player. His music got me through the early months of my new disability, and losing my career too. Thanks, Steve
  • Steve Rothery is one of the most underrated guitarists in the world ever! Saw him on the "Brave" tour in the 90s! 🎸🤘🏻
  • Honestly, one of the most underrated guitarists there ever was. David Gilmour gets a lot of the focus when it comes to guitarists that play with feel. However if you listen to any of Steve's music and solos such as on Seasons End you will soon realise that Steve is simply stunning.
  • Thank you for doing this. Steve Rothery has been one of my biggest influences since I discovered Marillion during the Marbles album, and then subsequently listened to their back catalog. Describing their longer songs as chapters put together is an eloquent way of putting it, I always felt a song like Ocean Cloud was a collection of movements. And songs like The Great Escape have brought me to tears many times. Truly a remarkable band and amazing guitarist, and I respect them for their approach to music.
  • Holy cow .... I've lived under a rock :( Mr Rothery is a master. What a joy!
  • So cool to see an awesome guitar great like Steve R. on this show. I discovered him back in 83 and have followed Marillion to this day. I've always marveled at his talent and his tones. They are both epic! Chasing the Marillion sound has been a never ending task for me and many other fans. You could do a whole show on his use of reverb too. Thanks for making this happen. Keep up the excellent content. Much appreciated guys!
  • Play the spaces as much as the notes. Yes. Absolute gold.
  • My favorite band, my favorite guitarist. Steve's tone, phrasing, note choice, pacing, and emotional impact are unparalleled for me. This is the Pedal Show I've been waiting for. Thank you for making it happen.
