The prog titan joins us in the studio with a bevvy of classic gear!

Welcome to the show. We are delighted to welcome Steve Rothery to the show… Steve is a founding member of UK progressive rock band, Marillion, now into their fifth decade of highly successful recording and touring. Alongside many other projects Steve also has his own band and is showing little sign of slowing down in terms of writing, producing and making great music.
He's taken a day out from that busy schedule and joined us to walk through some of the key gear down the years AND get a look at that now legendary Squier Strat.
Enjoy the show!

Big thanks to Andy Rotheram for the considerable assistance today!

Steve Rothery, the reason I first picked up a guitar 37 years ago. Thanks so much for this one, guys. Such a melodic, lyrical player ❤
  • The man himself. Underrated. Under the radar. Supremely gifted.
  • @pmunkey1
Steve is the sound of my childhood, early teens. The Brave album is still one of my favourite guitar albums. 🎉
  • @fenderberg
One of my absolute favorite guitar players. Textbook feel over technique. Every note just hits ❤
  • I don't know what rock I've been under, but SO glad you Gents introduced me to Steve and Marillion! Really enjoyed this episode and Steve has a new fan.
  • Thank you for doing this. Steve Rothery has been one of my biggest influences since I discovered Marillion during the Marbles album, and then subsequently listened to their back catalog. Describing their longer songs as chapters put together is an eloquent way of putting it, I always felt a song like Ocean Cloud was a collection of movements. And songs like The Great Escape have brought me to tears many times. Truly a remarkable band and amazing guitarist, and I respect them for their approach to music.

Sometimes guitar playing can feel competitive and the 'musical' aspect gets a bit forgotten. Steve is the exact opposite of that, such a beautiful player.
  • Steve rothery is so underated as a guitarist.the man can move you to tears with his solos. Glad you invited him on your show guys.interesting watch.thankyou.😊
  • Spent my Friday evening in the backyard with my Strat, a slide, & a Boss headphone set, enjoying the beautiful weather, the flowers & a few cold pints. What a fantastic way to close out a fulfilling night, but with two of my favourite Gents having a superlative conversation with Steve Rothery. Wow!!! Thanks Gents!!
  • I had a serious accident last year, and lost most of the use of the use of my left hand; I will never pick up a guitar ever again - I have been playing almost 15 years. Steve is and always be my favourite player. His music got me through the early months of my new disability, and losing my career too. Thanks, Steve

Steve Rothery is one of my favorite guitarists! Thank you for bringing him in for this interview and equipment show & tell.

Steve Rothery is one of the most underrated guitarists in the world ever! Saw him on the "Brave" tour in the 90s! 🎸🤘🏻
  • @JaymzChop
Awesome video guys! I've been waiting all my life for an interview like this. Marillion has been part of my life soundtrack and Steve one of my guitar heroes and influences for the past 30 years❤❤❤❤❤🤟👏👏👏
  • I'm a big fan of Marillion and love Steve Rothery's work. He is my biggest influence and continues to surprise me emotionally over the years. Long live to Marillion!
  • Killer show!!! A player that plays to serve the tune not his ego. music with substance that you can listen to over and over and hear something new you missed all the listens before.
  • @SiTheMon777
Oh my god I didnt expect that intro to effect me, instantly sent me back to being a 14 year old guitarist playing along to Steve's awesome tunes 🔥🔥
  • The sun is shining, it's warm, the sounds of Steve Rothery are drifting through my living room. I'm transported 😂 Thanks for having Steve on. Can't wait for more.
  • @dabearworld
Honestly, one of the most underrated guitarists there ever was. David Gilmour gets a lot of the focus when it comes to guitarists that play with feel. However if you listen to any of Steve's music and solos such as on Seasons End you will soon realise that Steve is simply stunning.
  • @The1mars1
People say Steve R is the most underrated guitarist, kind of agree with that statement, but whether its his solo work or with Marillion, there is a hardcore, big fan base that have been in love with Steve's guitar solos, tone, unique and so recognisable style of playing. True gent, too. Lucky to have met him in 2000 on of the Marillion's tour. Great chat fellas. Subscribed
