We need to become a federation, but we also need a strong constitution that defends our freedom of speech, privacy, and democracy.
  • @MrMurgen
Yes give us the Federal Republic of European Nations

Very enlightening interview. Markus Ferber makes a lot of sense. We need more Europe than ever before. Only a more integrated EU can protect the best interest of Europe and its citizens.

I'm surprised to hear such words from a CSU member. In German politics their way of thinking is usually "Bavaria first" and they don't even want to listen to the German government. And even though they are not anti-EU they are generally known for wanting to keep the status quo.
  • My dream: being born in Austria, growing up in France, studying in Poland and later working in Germany. Career proceeds in the Netherlands with regular bussiness-trips to Slovakia. Also visiting the retired parents in their italian home and the best long-term friends from Sweden and Spain during the holidays. Why not? I mean, we all speak english...
  • This isn't a debate. Everyone you interviewed was a federalist. There's no debate

Honestly, I think maybe not a direct democracy, but with the advancements in LLMs in the last few years, a summary of the needed information and a question to the public can very quickly and easily be arranged and responses summarised back to the MEP. They can then balance public opinion and feedback with expert opinions, personal expertise and experience, etc. This would be a game changer for me, where MEPs seem very distant from their voters and I often found it close to impossible to raise concerns that are heard by the relevant MEP.

Great interview, discussing a great subject. I missed this 3 times because the intro is too long, I hadn't realised the video was ready to watch, I thought it was a a placeholder for an upcoming video.

You have to clip the beginning of the videos before uploading. It looks like they don't work.

But is not Right. Countries on border has to be secured with resources for all EU countries. The ones that have no borders to outside they don't need that helicopter.
  • @angelg3986
No and no. At least until it declares independence and says to foreign army to leave and that EU will have own policy defending it's interests.
  • @diegoyuiop
We need a federal EU but precisely because it would be "federal" it must follow the principle of subsidiarity. The EU should be concerned with defense and foreign policy, not the single member laws on abortion and gay rights
  • Simple maths complete union our not, union , is power, bla bla, but that but this, yes nothing is perfect
