You should be a YouTuber. (or Artist/Creator)

There’s never been a better time to become a YouTuber, an artist, a musician, a writer, or whatever type of creative you want to be.

Let's talk about why that is, and hopefully, if you’ve ever thought to yourself “man, I’d love to be a YouTuber (or artist, or musician or whatever it is), but I just can’t do it–I don’t have what it takes, the algorithm sucks, or nobody cares about what I want to make”--I can show you that things aren’t as bad as they seem, and I think you should do it.

You should be a YouTuber, or a creator of whatever kind, if that’s what you want to do, even if it’s really hard and it sucks for a while. And I’m gonna back that up by telling you a little bit about me, and my story when it comes to YouTube and all that, and all the things I’ve learned from people smarter than me.

The follow-up video is here!! https://youtu.be/lFPuaa9gH_k?si=k84Fm3juwan973ai To clarify, it's not that I believe we should all be starving artists and walk around being pretentious about our creations. I'll still be making compromises with what I make in order to monetize (for example, a few of you will notice ads even in this video--I tried to set them so they would have rather cheeky timing, see if you can catch what I did😉) My message here is really about striking the balance, so that both our hunger to create and our hunger for food can be satisfie

I'm sorry. But, I gotta say man. I've gotten sick of the more corporate video creators, it is SUCH a breath of fresh air hearing, a REAL PERSON

I love how this isn’t just a voiceover over pre-recorded gameplay. It gives the feeling of a rant you’d have with a friend at 3 am while playing Xbox together

I love how ADHD this video is. He just sat down, played some Sonic, and spoke his heart. And I 100% agree, me and a lot of other people I think really prefer this over the over-stimulating "Mr.Beastified" style.

Wanted to say even as an “established” content creator or whatever you’d call it - this is exactly what I needed to hear. So thanks. Judging from the comments I’m not the only one but this meant a lot to me right now and I really appreciate it. Keep creating king ❤️
  • The fact that this video is achieving the popularity that it has is proof that authenticity is king

2024 is the year of "nerds talking about nerd shit" god damn it

My toxic trait is loving to watch those mlm "how to be xyz" creators who are just all doom and gloom about content creation, and it's honestly SOOOO refreshing to see someone have such a positive and uplifting outlook!!! Keep doing what you're doing, I really hope to see YouTube return more to it's roots with videos like these

22:27 the part where you said "art is society" touched something within me. it was a belief i resonated strongly with in the past but i lost touch with it as i grew. i stopped believing in art, started convincing myself that i was supposed to do other things that were more "important". i started seeing and critiquing the things i've created by looking at them on the surface level, just as products, started to dismiss my old art as something small i used to do to "pass time". but after watching this, it made me remember how art made me feel. not just creating, but also witnessing and experiencing others' works, and how it had the power to shake me to my core. that strength and connection that i felt which came with the experience of art. thank you for rekindling something within me again.

This is 100% the type of atmosphere I want to surround myself with. For more creatives and creators, we've had enough of judges!

I'm not exagerrating, this is one of the best videos I have ever watched on YouTube. This is truly inspiring, unlike some of the other 'inspirational' slop out there, and should reach more people.

You nailed it brother! NAILED IT! I'm 35 yrs old and I am excited and look forward to each and everyday I wake up. Unleasing creative energy has awakened my soul! Thank you for sharing brother!
  • This feels to me like we are rediscovering the "old era" of youtube I hear about. People sharing random videos they made because they just really enjoyed it. Hopefully/eventually, the ai videos will get rooted out as time goes on, and we return to those genuine videos again (also, speaking of the challenge you shared at the end of the video, I happened to finish an art piece and shared it to friends today!)

Who else is watching this instead of working on what they want to do?

When you spoke about dharma and one’s calling in life, it really struck a chord with me. Ever since I was about 10 years old, I wanted to be like the creators of YouTube’s golden years and be able to make other people laugh & smile, just like they did for me. I wanted to be able to share my love for my favorite games and art with others. For one reason or another, —either lack of time, money or knowledge, —I shelved that passion and desire to create to focus on other “more important”but less fulfilling things in my adolescence through my early 20’s. In the past two years, I’ve been streaming as a VTuber, building a small community. I’ve even tried learning how to edit recently in my small amount of spare time, which is something I find I love. While I’m nowhere near “successful” or even in a place to be able to leave my day job to be able to able to pursue this full time, content creation something that’s genuinely changed my life for the better, and it’s something I genuinely feel called to. I can’t say this enough — thank you for making & posting this video. It’s something I really needed to hear in this period of my life, and this video is really motivating for someone just starting their journey 🩷
