Whoever fathered the idea of linking a metronome and a waging tail of a dog has to be a meaningful and enchanting human being. Love from Spain!!!

There are many animation maker but only a few has the quality to touch our hearts.. I must say this man is one of those few people 👍

Rhythm is life, and life is rhythm. A good mechanical metronome is a little work of musical art, and so is a good little dog. Love this little film.

He's been doing this for a long time..judging by the four worn away patches on the stool that match up with the four corners of his metronome,lovely little detail..plus,the darker wood in the centre where the metronome has protected it from the Suns rays.❣

The 'tempo rubato' is well illustrated in this short animation film... at the beginning, the old man is reliant on his metronome to keep the beat, simply because he is down and out of loving feelings in his heart, and his music is clearly lifeless. After his encounter with the stray dog, his heart opens up and his music becomes inspired by loving feelings and free. He is thrilled when he realizes that he does not actually need the metronome anymore! There is a great sense of freedom for a musician once he/she gets to that stage in his/her musical journey! The old man is now playing with 'rubato', a musical indication from the composer asking the musician to play slightly loosely with tempo so as to allow more feelings to show. That is the subtle but important distinction between a robot precision playing (=lifeless) and a more inspired and expressive playing that stirs the listener's soul. If you look further, you notice that at the end, before starting to play, he looks up the dog wagging tail to give him the beat, just like a metronome would! Then starts playing and the two of them are totally in-sync.. so lovely and free!

Absolutely marvellous ! Such minute details, cobbled stones, frosty air, even the scratches on the old wooden stool look real. Wow ! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👌🏽👍🏽

This is one of my favorite cartoons. Today, I paused it because I couldn't recall the musical definition of "rubato." Wow! The title was so well chosen with the musical settings and character pacing offering both aural and visual echoes of the title!

Для того чтобы исполнить рубато, надо отключить метроном. Рубато это свобода! Что и происходит в этом сюжете, к тому же жизнь дарит главному герою нового верного друга ❤️
