Anyone remember the Asus Transformer Prime? A decade old tablet now but still one of the best implementations of keyboard and tablet: supported by its own hinge and an additional battery to boot. Still, being an Android tablet it had its fair share of problems.
  • Neither the clone nor the killer... Just a competition to Samsung's tablet range😅

Split screen shouldn't be too much of an issue. If you go into the developer settings (after you enabled it), there's a setting(s) to force any app into split screen. If the app is made half decent it will work quite well. I've been using it for years to watch YouTube and play games. That's also not even on a tablet (Xiaomi Remi Note 10Pro). Definitely give it a try!

Great video again, Marques. As always, your attention to detail and insightful analysis shine through. Keep up the fantastic work🥰

A lot of companies misinterpret the iPad’s success by trying to make better hardware at a cheaper price, but the iPad it’s not a hardware product, it’s a software one. No matter how good your hardware is… if you don’t have the software to back it up, everything else is meaningless. That is why people don’t want anything but an iPad (when it comes to tablets).

The biggest issue I have with Android tablets, even though I own a Tab S7 plus, is that a lot apps aren’t optimized for android tablets. Media consumption is great, just not that good for productivity/work.

The pixel tablet is probably a big factor in encouraging better development of Android tablet apps. Once it hits the market, I expect there'll be a decent uptick in the amount of Android tablet apps, which all of the ecosystem benefits from, from Samsung to Huawei to OnePlus.

I wish he covered the software experience more since it's been an issue in recent OnePlus phones.

It's not trying to be killer, it's just finally a decent android alternative. That's all it's aiming to be Edit: I make a random comment and of course it's a hit tweet. Ughh. Pls don't take this that seriously, and sorry Marques if this seemed critical, enjoyed the video and appreciate your opinions as always, just kinda disagreed with the title, but the clickbait rocked because it definitely got engagement from me. Hoping to get this tablet later this year, thanks for bringing it to our attention.

I bought one of these 2 weeks ago. Absolutely love it. I don't use it except for watching shows and listening to music or browsing the web. It does everything I need for a bargain and it's powerful and has a very decent battery life. I get an average of 10 hour screen on time.

The best Android tablet I've ever owned is actually a Chromebook - the OG Lenovo Duet. 8 years of updates (you'll be lucky to see 2-3 on an actual Android tablet), solid hardware - the 1200p screen is still a highlight, and full access to the Play Store. Worth a thought if you're in the market for something like this.
  • Hey Marques! OnePlus 9 Pro user here! Great video, very detailed and I loved your insights on the camera and software specs. How about the pencil? Since I'm an artist, one of the main reasons that made me got the iPad Air 4 was obviously the Apple Pencil 2nd gen and Procreate. Does the OnePlus Pad offers something like this? How is the sensitivity compared to the Apple Pencil and iPad display sensitivity points? And how do you find the color calibration compared to Apple devices? Thanks!
  • @GFourGadget
It definitely won't make people switch from the iPad, but mainly targeted at OnePlus or even general Android users. 🤷
  • @tripledgt
As a windows and android person, even I got an iPad Pro to learn graphic design because of Procreate. There is certain stuff that no one does better.

I’ve never owned an iPad but I I’m on my 3rd MacBook, I have 2 Apple TVs, Apple Watch, and an iPhone. I’m very familiar with Apple products. When I saw OnePlus Pad previews coming out I was VERY excited. I wanted a tablet to replace ALL my notebooks around the house and to do writing and editing on the go. When I first got the OnePlus Pad I was a bit frustrated because I struggling to find the best note-taking app until I finally stumbled upon Nebo. The battery life is AMAZING! All in all - for my use case - the OnePlus is great and I’m excited to have it and green is my favorite color 😭😭 🙌🏾

For the majority of tablet buyers/enthusiasts, yes, we can consider it an iPad killer. However, personally, I've never viewed the iPad as a mass product, even though it is. Its use seems to be specific and specialized. I recently sold my iPad because I couldn't find a real purpose for it during my day-to-day simple tasks, the girl who bought it has some kind of marketing job and she was astonished by how useful the iPad could be for her 😅 Best regards from Brazil!

I have the tab s8 ultra and I loveeeeee it. I showed it to a my roommate and my coworker who both have iPad and showed them all the functionality, the Multitasking, the dex mode, the media and browsing capabilities. I use it as my sole work laptop that manages documents, spreadsheets, video chat, telehealth calls, presentations, emails, note taking, psychotherapy notes, as well as casual gaming, messaging, graphic design, digital art, dual screen mirroring, and streaming videos, TV and film. They were both thoroughly impressed. Not to mention an incredible battery life, a great keyboard I never have to charge, an S pen INCLUDED with the tablet for FREE. I don't know why so many people think saumsungs tablets are inferior. I find mine to be immensely more advanced than any iPad I've ever seen or used.

Thanks for the review. I still use my Huawei MediaPad M5, mainly just for content consumption (Netflix, Amazon Prime, BBC iPlayer, etc) when travelling and still find it ideal - great battery life, USB-C charging, MicroSD card slot for expansion. It cost me £269 over 5 years ago and still going strong!

got both the samsung and the ipad and both are fine. i use them to paint - i am more used to the ipad, so use that normally, but the samsung works just as well. if you live in the apple ecosystem, then you will miss stuff with samsung, but ditto if you are into google/android. should be interesting to see how the newby does. i would definitely buy it….thanks for the savvy review!
