Highly, highly recommend the show, which is Raimi and Campbell back together and has the same themes and tone, it's absolutely delightful.
  • @kurthockenbury
What I love about this movie is they got 3-4x the budget of the previous one, but instead of spending it on better special effects, they spent it on a whole lot more cheesy effects.

Actually went to a ren faire dressed as Ash with a chainsaw it was an amazing time i had people in period clothes asking what "That strange sword on thine hand is" i was acting like Ash the entire time asking them if they had seen the Necronomicon etc it was great

16:29 to also show Sam Raimi’s fan of other artists, the “magic” words, “Klaatu barada nikto” in this scene originally came from the 1951 film, The Day the Earth Stood Still: in it, the words are used as the command words over an Alien robot named Gort, and used by the film’s protagonist, Klatuu, an alien who visit Earth…

Ash vs Evil Dead is a must see now...but be careful...they pulled out all the brakes on this one.
  • @FrenchieQc
This movie is a treasure trove of legendary one-liners. And I grew up in Quebec so we had the dubious french translation, so I get twice as many cheesy one-liners!
  • @Chamomileable
Evil Dead as a franchise really is just one of the series that remembers how fun you can make horror. Bruce Campbell is so incredibly underrated.
  • @NicoAnimation
It was so fun watching you both have fun watching this! If you want another Bruce Campbell title that's just as fun, check out 2002's BUBBA HO-TEP, where he plays Elvis (who secretly never died) trying to save an old folks home from a soul-sucking undead mummy!
  • Technically, The Ring falling on Frodo's finger is just like when Ash catches the chainsaw, not the other way around ;)
  • Before WoW, you could click on human riflemen in Warcraft III and they would eventually respond with "THIS IS MY BOOMSTICK!" - Also, the hail to the king baby reference was used in Duke Nukem as a reference to Ash too. In my own mind, I like to think Earthworm Jim saying, "Groovy" is in reference to this movie as well.
  • @Crazyivan777
Bruce has said that Ash is great at thinking fast, and terrible at thinking slowly. Pretty much sums up the character.
  • @TheeGoatPig
I was one of the 1,000 people who saw this in the theater. I loved it.
  • @Tamalan
Bruce Campbell’s lines in this movie are pure gold

Bruce Campbell is one of a kind! First saw him in the short-lived TV series The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr, then this movie. Stands out even in his smaller roles (all 3 Raimi Spiderman movies and Coach Boomer in Sky High). He's been called the King of B-movies, a title I think he wears with pride ;)
  • @Ozai75
It's such a shame that Bruce never got the big break he deserved. He's such an excellent actor and like you guys said being extremely Handsome. A awesome series of his that I don't know if you've ever seen (and it's only one season) is Brisco County Junior. It's a fun Western Romp.
  • @gumbyx84
You guys need to watch Rami's original ending. The ending on most copies of the movie have the "studio" approved ending with a "happy ending". Would love to see your reaction to that ending and the TV show.
  • Since you loved Army of Darkness, you absolutely have to watch the TV series Ash vs Evil Dead. It's only 3 seasons of 10 episodes per season but it perfectly combines the comedy of Army of Darkness with the gory horror of the first two films. If you thought Bruce Campbell was good in Army of Darkness, wait until you see him in the series. He's hilarious, and the rest of the cast is really good as well.
  • @Rocket1377
You definitely need to watch Darkman if you haven't seen it. It's Sam Raimi's first superhero film, but it has a very similar tone and style to Evil Dead. Bruce Campbell was supposed to play the lead in that film, but was replaced by the studio who wanted a bigger star for the role.

Shoutout to Blaine VanDerSnick, my ole high school History teacher! Used to give little cinema trivia questions on his tests for extra points and he made an Army of Darkness one...and I'll be honest that's how I learned of the series! <3 this movie. (He also helped form an afterschool Gaming Group for Magick and D&D players!)

Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert were still involved in the making of the newer movies. They actually spent the last few years writing out an Evil Dead "bible", which will explain the lore of the ED universe, including ideas for further stories, and describes how the Necromomicon and Deadites function (for future filmakers to refer to), so they can keep the franchise going forever and remain true to the original creative team's vision. I highly recommend checking out the Ash vs Evil Dead tv show, which is an excellent continuation of the story.
