Happy spooky season, nice dudes! Today Chris and Altaf watch Army of Darkness (1992) for the first time, directed by none other than Sam Raimi and starring Bruce Campbell! We reacted to Evil Dead 2 one year ago, and we were really excited to check this one out! Huge thank you to our patrons for voting!

I love how all of Ash's one liners became the script for Duke Nukem

Fun fact the car is a Delta 88. Bought by Sam Raimi's father. That car is in most of his movies if not all. That was the same car Uncle Ben took Peter to the library and gave the with great power line. Jeff Morales says with great ability comes great accountability

This is less horror and more epic fantasy, but I really love the genre shift. My favorite Evil Dead movie. Also, fun fact: the original ending for the movie was supposed to be Ash waking up in a post-apocalyptic London screaming "I slept too long" before it fades to black.

When I was attending UCLA, Bruce Campbell came by to give a talk, do a Q&A, and sign some autographs. Super nice guy and genuinely hilarious. I wish he became the superstar he probably deserved to be.

Those three words were the three used in the original "the day the earth stood still" to keep the robot from destroying everything when the alien was dying. The woman had to remember them too.

Fun Fact: Ash Williams was a character in the crossover card game "Poker Night at the Inventory 2". When he asked about what happened to Sheila, GLaDOS from Portal finds records that one her and Ash's direct descendents is Brock Sampson from The Venture Brothers. It's obviously not canon, but it's funny to watch the characters in-game connect the dots.

You both should take on Ash vs Evil Dead as that series did what no one could have predicted: It deepened the lore, the characters and the gory special effects. Ash Williams becomes a totally fleshed out character and it's hilariously glorious.

FYI, that was not the original ending of the movie you both reacted to. It was supposed to be him overslept in his car during the time travel phase, and ended he woke up in a post apocalyptic London region. In the end, he never got home. From medieval time, he went further into the future 😂. This was the first movie (out of the whole franchise) I’d watched in cinema when I was a kid, asked my parents to bring me in to watch just because I was intrigued by the movie poster/cover. Years later while I was in high school/ secondary school, only I found out that some how Evil Dead & Evil Dead 2 were relevant to Army of Darkness. Then only I bought the VCD/DVD to watch it at home😅

You guys should watch the series. You get the horror of 1, comedy of 2 & Ash from 3, all in one great show. Long Live Ash!
  • May the Glory of Bruce Campbell shine on everyone this Halloween season!! This is my favorite Bruce Campbell movie of all time, "Groovy" is still the best line delivery ever done in the history of cinema. Also use the Jack and shit line to this day........

I love Army of Darkness. The Evil Dead films are so creative and fun. Fun fact: Ash’s magic words are borrowed from The Day The Earth Stood Still (1951). George Lucas borrowed from these words when naming some minor characters and species in Return of the Jedi

The "Pit B!tch" creature in the beginning was played by Billy Bryan. He was also the man in the "Mr. Staypuft" costume in GHOSTBUSTERS.

I hope whoever decided that the movie shouldn’t be called Medieval Dead stubs their toe every single day for the rest of their lives. You guys should definitely watch Ash Vs. the Evil Dead, it’s such a fantastic show. I’d basically watch Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams in anything though lol.
  • @rsvp87
"I got a BONE to pick with you" "God damn it" lol perfect reaction
  • @AMortalDefiant
I'm glad you guys caught Ted Raimi at towards the end. You missed him earlier at 18:55.
  • "Good. Bad. I'm the one with a gun." - My absolute favorite line in the movie. (I was saddened to find out many years later that in a different version/ cut of the film, that line was removed.) But I loved this movie since I saw it in theatres. Just great, campy fun.
  • @duhmonke
There's also an alternate ending where Ash goes forward in time with a potion but he forgets the exact amount (because he's an oaf) and oversleeps all the way to the Apocalypse
