  • I remember this day coming back from school and receiving the shock of a lifetime knowing that they actually knocked Germany out
  • The emotion from Son Heung Min will always get me. South Korea knew that the only way they were going through were if they won by two goals. Obviously the Sweden Mexico game made it meaningless for South Korea, but the players didn't know the result of the other match at the time. The players did their job and they left it all on the field, absolutely amazing

its just incredible to see how the Korean team led and then defended that with everything they had in the match. truly a performance worthy of world cup.

Although people new to football might not know how shocking this defeat was, it was a even more surprise because Germany was ranked number 1 during that time in FIFA and they were the defending champions of the last World Cup as well, and for Korea to knock them out was not thought to be possible.

As a Mexican we made Koreans our brothers that day! All Mexicans still love our Korean brothers, we celebrated with them, we had beating the current world champions during the world cup in common โค

From this match, Korean footballโ€™s prime time has started. I really appreciate the playersโ€˜ effort and the sacrifice on the pitch.
  • I'm from Indonesia where shin tae yong so ridiculously loved by a lot of us indonesian football enthusiast. This raise a question tho, why did coach shin agreed to coach our national team? For me that is a blessing and i almost 100% sure the rest of us also feel blessed.

the hate that was poured on ozil after this loss was such that i have never seen before. Tony Kroos even refused to defend him. one man was blamed for the failings of other 22 players, german football federation and coaching staff.

Over confidence finished a nominal chance for Germany and Over dedication gives rewards to Korea โค

I remember watching this in Vientiane, Laos with a German colleague who was stunned to silence while the table next to me full of Koreans were going wild. All the Lao were supporting South Korea. Fun night
  • @Pokephosgene
At this time, I had started to learn Korean. This was one part of me becoming spiritually Korean. Hard work and honest sportsmanship inspired me to want to go all in on knowing these wonderful people. The Miracle of Kazan then was bested by the Miracle of Al-Rayyan. I await a new miracle.

Correction for the commentator: during the first korean goal, it was actually a german defender who played the pass to he korean player. You can see his foot poking the ball back. Therefore, it doesn't count as a "pass," so no offside
  • The best scenes: 1-0 Kim Young-gwon (90+3 min) 0:00 Mats Hummels heads over the bar: 3:20 2-0 Son Heung-min (90+6 min) 4:40 Jo Hyeon-woo saves Julian Brandts shot: 6:31 Mats Hummels heads over the bar again: 7:35 The final whistle: 8:15

Korean people are resilient through so much in their history. They are the best in Asia and to see so many of their players in top leagues across the world is a testament to how strong, loyal, and talented they are.. letโ€™s go Korea!!!!
  • @carsso35
And another East Asia team beat Germany 4 yrs later. Football outside Europe has greatly improved and has narrowed down the gap.

This is what made me like watching FIFA World Cup, as well as football! My friends that time were a fan of Korean stuff, and I was happy seeing them win.
