/* ---- VIDEO INFORMATION ---- */

Alright Yellowjackets fans, episode 7 it’s a wonderful reunion of the Yellowjackets, but that doesn’t mean the claws aint coming out. Because right now Shauna is Yellowjacket’s Mike Tyson, throwing haymakers and eating ears haha but yeah

Welcome back to Heavy Spoilers, your home for spoilers that are heavy, and in this video we’re going to be discussing everything in Yellowjackets episode 7. Full story breakdown, callbacks, strange references and parallels, and some theories that I’m betting are actually correct.

So if you enjoy this video, hitting the like button is much appreciated, it helps the channel, and subscribe to Heavy Spoilers to stay up to date on all of our Yellowjackets coverage. With that out of the way, thank you so much for clicking this, I’m your host Jared, now let’s get into Yellowjackets Episode 7.

Alright so this episode is predominately based at Lottie’s compound, as sort of a little reunion, and I think the most shocking part of it all is that this season has only been a week. Yeah, 7 days, which feels insane to me, but everyone has their own quirks here. Natalie has fully been draped in purple, succumbing to Lottie’s wellness. Misty in only 24 hours has also succumbed, taking the role of gathering the newcomers' possessions. There’s some weird little looks amongst Tai when Natalie mentions walls being up, while looking at Van. our first hint at her still having feelings for her. While Lottie seems to give a skittish look when Natalie brings up “Dark Shit” Again hinting that she may know more than she’s letting on.

Apologies for the delay, but enjoy our episode 7 breakdown!!
  • @shockmethodx
Both Tai and Shauna got their Van back this season.

I don't think Shauna is smothering Callie. On the contrary, she's distant from her daughter.
  • @KarlaOvalle
I think Shauna meant that she kept Callie at arm’s length as in, NOT close. She was afraid she’d lose her too or that she was never real in the first case.
  • @LeVidocq
I agree that if there is an antler queen, it's Shauna. The trauma of losing Jackie and the baby makes her cold and cruel. And she fulfills her desire for Jackie's life by taking leadership of the girls.

Idk why but I keep feeling like Walter is fooling Misty. Like I think he’s not as sweet and “in love” with her as she’s thinking he is. I think, like you said, he’s tied into Adam somehow rather it’s through friends or family. But I feel like he might be the one who figured out where the body parts were buried…. And I feel like that message she left on his phone is gonna come back and bite her in the ass.
  • I’d rather y’all post episodes 8 and 9 late than just skipping episode 8, by far you’re my favourite channel to come to after watching an episode! Edit: after just finishing ep 8 PLEASE do episode 8 it was just too good!!!!!
  • In historical accounts of retroactively diagnosed Wendigo psychosis, it has been reported that humans became possessed by the wendigo spirit, after being in a situation of needing food and having no other choice besides cannibalism. Also, wendigos derive from Canadian folklore during the WINTER phases normally.
  • I’ve had a feeling that Shauna has been the antler queen for awhile now. The way her eyes look when she is in those moments of power (like beating up Lottie and the whole minivan scenes) almost gives it away that she has and always will be the antler queen with that darkness in her.

Note to anyone and everyone: sensory deprivation tanks existed LONG BEFORE Stranger Things. In fact, there was a quite famous 1978 sci-fi/horror novel called Altered States (and a quite excellent, still relevant, corresponding 1980 movie adaptation directed by lovable wacko auteur Ken Russell) based around their potential to induce transcendent experiences and the horrifying possibilities therein. (This movie was clearly one of the many dominant 80's "influences" on Stranger Things, even though the specific FX they used to portray their tank sequences were stolen from, excuse me, "in homage to" FX sequences from a completely different and more recent film, Jonathan Glazer's Under the Skin.) Basically, nothing in Stranger Things is "from" Stranger Things. If you see it there, you can rest assured that it was first seen somewhere else.

I think that antler queen is none if the girls, but is the spirit of the forest. There was a statement in the opening of the first episode of season 2, I think it was Natalie speaking, she said something along the lines of ‘the wilderness was waiting for us to come along and befriend it’. The antler queen is a physical representation of the spirt of the woods. I think this is all leading to a shared delusion that the antler queen will come and show them how to survive and what to do; randomly hiding traps throughout the woods to capture food, just like pit girl in episode one. When we see shadows of antlers above Lottie, Ben, etc. I think it more so represents the wilderness gaining control and leading them to the ultimate goal of befriending the wilderness. Lotties delusion at the end of this episode indicated to me that she, Lottie, is not the antler queen. Why would she hallucinate herself like that? I do think Lottie has a stronger connection to the antler queen/the wilderness than anyone else, but it still wouldn’t make sense for her to hallucinate talking to herself like that.
  • Please don’t miss 8. I look forward to this every week! ❤

The Coach's flashbacks are like somebody is changing the TV channel
  • Thank you for mentioning coach bens antlers.. I legit asked on twitter why nobody else has mentioned this.. or noticed it.. and sent the pic to my buddy before we watched this breakdown like if heavy spoilers catches it I’ll be happy! Haha 😂

Things I feel quite strongly: 1) This isn’t a supernatural show - I know we drift back and forward on this, but I think it’s a show about people going weird and feral in the wilderness, then struggling to recover when they get back into reality because they had to pretend to be ‘normal’ again when they got back, but something had changed profoundly 2) Shauna is the Antler Queen - I agree with you here 100% - it’s the best arc for the show that the conflicted and nervous and depressed Shauna is actually the most terrifying and powerful of all of them 3) There’s someone else in the wilderness with them - we have this backstory about the house they’re in and no access point into finding out about it unless there’s someone who was there when it happened whose flashbacks we can observe. Plus we have Javi living for months in the wilderness and Crystal’s missing body. If I had to put money on a story arc it would be that there’s a woman who has been living alone in the forest for years, has completely lost her mind, presents herself as an antler queen and then is eventually killed by Shauna who takes over her role
  • I personally feel that season 1 was pretty much perfect, but this season mostly felt like filler to me. I really don’t feel as a viewer that we have gotten any answers this season.
  • @bryh555
I need to know more about Javi I really hope we get some answers in regards to him like where he was and how he survived. It kinda seems like the other characters just like.. don't really care about finding out anymore lol bro survived for a long time completely on his own in the freezing cold. Finding our how he did that could possibly help the whole group survive but it doesn't seem like they think that way
  • I noticed during the reunion on Lottie’s campsite, the main characters were sitting around six candles. I’m thinking each candle represented one of them. There were two additional candles outside of their circle, which I’m assuming represents two other folks that came back from the wilderness. One being Travis, the other being someone they haven’t reveal to us yet. One candle may have even been shorter than the other five, the one in front of Van, representing her short life left to live. Not sure if this is real, though, or just the camera angle making it look shorter.
  • The queen of hearts chooses the antler queen who is then hunted by the group. If the antler queen survives the hunt, she chooses the next/deals next.
  • @Father_Daniel
I still think there's a chance that Javi died out in the wilderness and he was somehow brought back. Earlier in the season Travis saw his dead body but when he got to him it end up being a fox's corpse. So if Crystal shows back up somehow that would nail down that theory.
