/* ---- VIDEO INFORMATION ---- */

Alright so Yellowjackets season 2 has just kicked off, winter has come, and flesh is finally on the menu. I was personally “Misty-fied” by Season 1’s rollercoaster of supernatural twists and turns, and I’m hungry for more.

So in this video we’re going to be breaking down this latest episode, things you may have missed, callbacks, and potential theories to explain some of these weird symbols and events that are happening. This recap is going to be heavy on the spoilers, so if you haven’t kicked off Season 2 yet, then get outta heeerrree. If you enjoy this video, hitting the like button is much appreciated, and subscribe to join the beehive of spoilers, as we’ll be covering this weekly.

With that out of the way, thank you so much for clicking this, I’m your host Jared, now let’s get into Yellowjackets.

Now Season 2 kicks off roughly 2 months after Jackie turned into a human popsicle and left Shauna and the others completely devastated in the wilderness as winter was upon them. Here we get snippets of the cabin living arrangements and daily routine, with Sharon Van Etten’s “Seventeen” being the backtrack to all of this. Several of the girls are camped out downstairs to stay warm by the fire, while Taissa and Van appear to still have their relationship going. Their wrists are tied together with some rope, which we later find out to be Van’s remedy for Taissa’s weird sleep walking, climbing, and dirt eating instances. Coach Scott is full on lumberjack beard mode, and Shauna is sleeping next to an empty bunk that we can only assume is Jackie’s.

It looks like everyone has sort of adapted a routine, as Natalie and Travis gear up for the morning hunt, insulating their socks and jackets with the nudey magazines they found in the cabin during season 1. Lottie leaning into her supernatural rituals, sends them on their way, but not before rubbing ashes on their palms, blessing them with some makeshift incense, and drinking some herbal tea with a drop of Lottie’s blood in it.

i think a better theory of the symbol is that it's some kind of map. i also read a really interesting theory tonight about it being a map of mines. apparently there are old mercury mines in the area they crashed at, so their craziness could be a result of small form mercury poisoning. it would also explain the bear acting weird. and the possible visions of Lottie underground somewhere with candles. AND the tree stump they found w/ the moss could be an underground mine that's radiating heat. this fandom is so great in all it's theories!!

One thing I forgot during this episode is that Shawna isn't just starving, she's pregnant and starving.

Has anybody ever noticed that Taissa eye color are a very rich Amber with almost a blood like hue to them? I know she has to wear contacts to match the younger version of herself however the younger version of her has more of a deep brown eye with no Amber whatsoever. They also make it a point to do very tight close-ups of her so that we can always see her eyes sometimes her eyes are the most prevalent thing in her shots. Seeing how detailed they are about everything I wonder if this is just oversight or actually has something to do with possession or the reason why she keeps having these night walking issues...

Jackie's ear and the title of the episode instantly connected in my mind... Also I feel like show is missing 1 actor that I think would have been genius in this and that is Drew Barrymore.
  • Love this show! I think when Lottie said "It's not real" she was referring to what we call reality. That the elemental, what she experienced in the wilderness is actually what is real. Enjoyed your review.

My theory: Natalie woke up in the old cabin that has been remodeled. It looked like she was in Travis’s old room and the wall decor above the bed said “breathe” and the scene right before she woke up was Lotti telling Travis to breathe.

It's a shame in some respects that Jackie was killed off as her story would have worked well as a multi-season arc. Jackie had all the attributes to be popular and a leader in high school (beautiful, confident, funny), all of which counted for little in the wilderness. It would have been a cool arc to see if she could adapt to being left out in the cold, metaphorically, and become a leader again, especially as she had less than zero interest in Lottie's unhinged nonsense. Jackie would probably have been Natalie's biggest ally among the sceptics. Also Ella Purnell is a fabulous actress who will be missed. All that being said, it sets up Natalie as the main antagonist to Lottie's "Wicca BS" in the 1996-timeline and Sophie Thatcher will probably shine this season, I think she's another fantastic actress.. Shauna's 1996-timeline could go in any number of ways, it's set up nicely in Episode 1 we'll have to play it by ear to see which direction it goes. Should be a great season!

I actually think Travis is slowly believing in the stuff Lottie is doing “Wicca”. Maybe in his story line he doesn’t admit to Nat he’s starting to believe in Lottie’s rituals. Just a hunch 🤔
  • Season 2 is looking so 🔥🔥🔥! I was worried that the success of season 1 had caught the creators off guard like LOST, & no one knew what story to tell. YELLOWJACKETS Season 2 seems well plotted, paced, & acted!! Can’t wait for more!!
  • @heysfb
Natalie wasn’t about to relapse when she got kidnapped. She was about to blow her brains out with a shotgun. It was Misty who stopped her from relapsing. Dang get it right.

Lol her name is pronounced TIE-EE-SA. Taissa. Tai for short. I'm guessing the guy presenting this isn't actually the same person that wrote the script for this and doesn't actually watch the show, because that's a main characters name they say countless times throughout the series
  • I really hope they lean into the folk horror aspect more this season. I love that stuff.

🇨🇦🍁 the spirit of the Deadman spoke French. So I kind of figured they were near Vancouver. But did Lottie make a cult campground AT THE PLANE CRASH SITE?!? 😮😮.... And Yes someone noticed😅😅😅 The disappearing/ reappearing girls. Last time we saw them was at the funeral. But the numbers are back right. 14 survived but 11 remain. ❌ There's no way Taissa will quit the Senate. She doesn't quit or know when to get self-care. That's her problem
  • @JJmystic
Love the workaholics cut away lol. I just watched that episode😂 Also, “tie-EE-suh”
  • I thought I was tripping with the new girls that showed up lmao. Glad to see you had the same question lol
  • @l05555
If you pay close attention those girls were in season 1 and I'm super excited they decided to show case them in this one. They also say cannibalism is not good for the health so that could be a factor
  • @inkypens22
love these breakdowns! (please just practice Taissa's name)
