After a week 13 loss to the Packers the Vikings found themselves with a 6-6 record and a very small chance at the playoffs. But the Vikings didn't quit, winning three straight games before a season finale game against the Packers. Many viewed the Packers as bonafide favorites after they defeated the Vikings in Week 13, but the Vikings did not give up, taking it to the Packers early behind a great performance from season MVP Adrian Peterson who finished the game with 199 yards and a touchdown.

When Peterson hit that last run it was one of those iconic NFL moments. You really thought for a second that he could get the record.

Adrian Peterson carried the state of Minnesota on his back to the playoffs MVP AD AP 28 The Goat šŸ

I actually think Vikings fans would've wanted him to break the record instead of make the playoffs.

Adrian was truly special (and still is), good luck Week 2 Vikings shall be a good one and I am looking forward to the day the great AP is inducted!

The perfect ending to this game wouldā€™ve been a walkoff touchdown by Pederson breaking the record.

  • Iā€™m a die hard packers fan. Born and raised in Wisconsin. But I wanted Adrian Peterson to break that record so bad. NFC will forever be the best.

I watched this game live at the time, never rooted so hard for overtime in my life lol. Would have loved for AD to hold the single game and single season record. If there was 1 more minute left he would have had it. They don't make em like this anymore.
  • @infinitymystery
If Vikings weren't playing for the playoffs, AP would've broke the record.

NFL youtube has gotten great with the highlights in the past year, their digital division finally bringing people what they want.

Flew all they way out from NJ for this game. First time at the metrodome. Remember being front row 50 yard line Vikings sideline. Didnā€™t sit the whole game. Best experience of my life. That place was rocking.

Watching Adrian's last run still gives me the chills to this day. What a perfect ending to a legendary season. I've been a Vikings fan my whole life, and I'm gonna miss him.
  • @mattwilkie9713
I remember watching this and being so ecstatic about Walsh hitting the field goal to send us to the playoffs. In hind sight I wish he would have missed to force OT so that AP could have broke the record. People would have remembered that. No one remembers the playoff game that featured Joe Webb as our qb

this was 2012? feels like yesterday, life sometimes to fast
  • @TKFOH
That 28 yard run on 2nd and 27 was one of my all-time favorite Peterson runs. The look in his eye, the determination, gave me chills. I still remember watching that game.
  • @CinnamonJesus
Man, I've been looking for this game ever since I saw it back in 2012. So glad you guys uploaded it here.
  • @WinTwins89
I was at this game. For all the grandeur and amenities of U.S. Bank Stadium, it will never be as loud as the Metrodome.
