2 Years Alone Building an Off Grid Log Cabin in the Wilderness, Start to Finish Timelapse

I watched every episode of your build as it occurred. How delightful to see it happen all at once. What you were able to do as a man alone with his dog in the woods is just amazing. You are inspiring and to be admired.

Unbelievable dedication, skill, and work ethic. Basically everything done with hand tools, by himself. Nobody to pass or hold things for him. Each log, each plank, was its own trip back and forth. Day-in day-out. I'm in awe. It'd take me all day (maybe two) just to hack one of those logs into the correct shape. On top of that, he filmed it all and made time to play with the dog, go hunting, grow and store food, help out at his daughter's cabin, and god knows what else.

This is the second cabin I watched you build. You are truly an amazing man with a work ethic, and determination that I have never seen in another human being. There were anxious moments while I watched, especially on the latest build of the roof. I prayed for you every time I saw what you were doing. And let us not forget that amazing, beautiful companion, Cali. She has been there the entire time with you. You have blessed me each time that I watched with building knowledge that I thought was impossible for one man to accomplish. Watching this video today, I thought to myself, do you ever take the day off and just relax? I thank you Shawn James, for all that you have shown me over the years. You are one of a kind and I look forward to spring and the building to continue. I appreciate you and I thank you.

Having watched every single video you have ever uploaded I am still blown away with how you have been able to accomplish what you have. I am in awe with how you do things and whenever I tackle any project (being a contractor handyman) I always ask myself if this is the way Shawn would do it. So much respect sir. I’m only about 3 hours away from you and I truly hope that some day our paths cross. 🙏🙏

Like most of us, I watched these videos as they appeared… anxiously awaiting the next chapter. It is such a tremendous accomplishment to see this part of the homestead reach completion, and anticipate what comes next. The most magnificent thing to me is, this entire process could have taken place a 100 years ago, as Shawn sticks to his commitment to building the old fashioned way. Incredible. Absolutely, without a doubt, an Incredible Build! One man , and a dream. Then one day, it all became reality. Looks impossible to do alone, but you with your skillful talent pulled it off. What a beautiful wilderness home you have built for you and your family. You must feel so good and very proud about what you have accomplished. Happy New Year Shawn. This has been such an incredible year that you have given us. I have enjoyed following you for several years. I look forward to every single video. You have been such an incredible inspiration to me and I know millions of others. I am now turning 74 years old and I don't believe I will start a project like this now. But I have learned so much from you that I hope I can carry the knowledge I've learned from you into my next life and start something as you did. I have most of my life lived self-sufficient on my own little farm here in the mountains of Tennessee. I produce and raise 95% of all the food that I consume. I dehydrate, can, and produce and preserve the food in many ways. I pray that you and your family have a wonderful, happy, and healthy New Year ahead. I look forward to more videos. I’ve watched all your videos Shawn. As soon as you post them I’m watching them in amazement of what you accomplished in that video. This video shows what 1 man and his best friend can achieve working very hard and tackling it one day at a time to reach a goal that seemed so far away. Today we’re as young as we will ever be so enjoy life, family and friends and last but not least, our best friends.

My father and i have watched you from video 1. He and i have built 2 cabins since. We dont have your skill set or the patience to use the older tools . But , i get to look back and always remember our time spent together. Knowlege pasted from father to son. Its very satisfying to light the first fire . Lay in bed and appreciate all the meticulous time put into each area. Nothing beats being out in the wilderness. No modern sound. This dream of yours has been a pleasure to watch over the years.
