I think Jeremy Irons is fantastic here! He captures that arrogant character, but sings most of his music, while still retaining that classic Rex Harrison speaking-singing

dame Kiri proves that opera singers can DEFINITELY do justice to musical theatre. Her acting, and cockney in particular was unbelievable. Her 'Just You Wait' was fantastic!

Watching this, I found myself ... not singing along with it, because I didn't want to cover up their voices ... but I sat here mouthing every word. I couldn't even stop doing it. This musical is a lifelong favorite.

I'm so used to Rex Harrison in the part of Professor Hill, but Jeremy Irons is incredible here and I'd forgotten just how handsome he is/was. A delight from the beginning to end and of course Kiri Te Kanawa is always magnificent !! Thanks for posting -

I remember when this recording was issued it wasn’t so well received. The memory of Rex Harrison in the role seemed to overwhelm the critics’ opinion. I’ve always thought it was fantastic and the Jeremy Irons gave a superb performance as Prof Higgins and Kiri’s voice stunning as always. I’m happy to say that the cd is one of my favourites!

Jeremy Irons is a suberb actor and performer. Its a pity he is getting minor roles nowadays. I loved this performance when he is at the top of his career and proving he can sing in musicals too. I am a fan of Kiri too, and her performances are always flawless.Great show!!

Jeremy Irons did a great job complimenting a true soprano Dame Kiri Te Kanawa ... one of the most beautiful and masterful voices in all opera.

When I was young my parents rented a cabin on the Russian River in California, No TV, just a stereo and a few albums. The original album of My Fair Lady was one of those on hand. I played it every day until I knew every word. Now some 50 years later it remains one of my favorites and I still know every word. Wonderful concert performance!

Jeremy Iron, a true multi-talented man. Last seen as the petulant CEO of Lehman Bros collapsing empire during the 2008 global meltdown, you would not expect him to nail the part of prof. Higgins. Man for all seasons.
