“The responsibility is now fully and 100 percent on Labour…and the mistakes, all there waiting to be made.”

Labour could be leaving itself open to future economic errors as the chancellor prepares for her first major speech where she will lay the path for the government's public finance plans, says The Times's Dominic Lawson

The 20 billion that was stolen from the public purse should cover this❤

Well it’s not “false accounting” is it, because those civil servants could have been working on other things than the Rwanda project. Transparent partisan analysis, who is this person and why is he given airtime?
  • In their election campaign, Labour said that they had a fully costed solution that didn't include tax increases. Well that didn't last long huh!
  • 20 billion, this is the same amount that goes on illigals each year , that's why all public services are ruined and broken.

Labour and the then shadow councillor had full access to all the books!!!!
  • Do you think Dominic is Tory........not the old no money note routine.......dear god. Let's have some balance please...independent pay body appointed by Government and limited on what they can offer, hardly independent...

Every political discussion seems now determined by polling and political point-scoring. How about looking at things from the perspective of the civic good, the best thing to do? That's the whole point of politics. It's about arguing through differences to find the best course of action for the civic good. Come on journo's. Grow some integrity. Find your civic purpose again and talk about what will bring utility, not just what will give either side an avantage.

Steven Flynn called out all three of the major parties multiple times during the debates for covering this up. None of the major news organizations properly scrutinized Starmer or Sunak during the election on this and now we're left in this situation where Labour are trying to figure out what they use it as an excuse for not properly funding, with the answer likely being as much as they can get away with.
  • I did predict that whoever gets in the hot seat after the Conservatives will have to put something up because of the overspending🤔🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

tHE tiMEs continues the gaslighting campaign on behalf of the Crown Corporation piracy crew
  • How can it be a conservative 22 billion black hole when ,over 8 billion has already been spent by Labour in new commitments in just 3 weeks?
  • The modern Conservative Party should be renamed the Etonian Cowboys Party! Cooking the books is a more correct term for their black hole, a long prison term for those that are found guilty - but it won't apply to them!!
  • AND HOW WERE THE TIRIES GOIN TO HANDLE THIS BLACK HOLE THEY CREATED ??? ANYONE? THEY WOULD HAVE HID IT AND THEY WANTED TAX CUTS HIW WOULD THAT HAVE PAID THE DEBT OFF ?? ALL THAT DID WAS CREATE ANOTHER BLACK HOLE, THANKS TRUSS FOR MY LARGE MORTGAGE
  • We do need to support our existing businesses and help them to grow because they create the jobs people need.

This is because they unnecessarily accepted the Tories' budget constraints. So much for making things better, and so much for eceono9mic growth. It's a mistake: spending on infrastructure helps boost the economy and raises the tax take.
