Mohana Arun shares her experiences as to why being interdependent is important than being independent. While being independent is glorified by our society, the vital dependent nature of human existence is vastly ignored. The talk strikes a balance between individuality and coexistence by being interdependent. Mohana Arun is currently a student at Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai. As an engineering graduate, she has prior experience in working as an Application Engineer at Johnson Controls, Mumbai. After her two-year career in Mumbai, she returned to
Chennai to pursue her MBA. She enjoys dancing and spends most of her free time learning new forms of classical dance. In addition to dancing, she loves teaching and volunteering in NGOs. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Being independent doesn't mean you have to stay away from your family and friends! It's all about finding real treasure with in you and co-existing with in the community.

  • Nice speech for my career because I am preparing bank exam...so, I daily listen in this type of speech but your message on personality is so beautiful.
  • The same thing which you felt in Mumbai i felt in Chennai...And came to my hometown in Andhra.... Really well structured speech...What a clarity of thought....Kudos to you....
  • I am very happy to see people talking about being "happily dependent". Honestly, I always wonder why people think being independent is bliss. You explained it correctly. Interdependence is the real bliss. Especially in this world where men and women have their own challenges, interdependence is the best solution. Let us not live a lonely life by being willfully blindfolded where we have people around us to remove the blindfold for us.
  • Oh, This is one of the awesome speech i ever heard.
