  • "There's anti-freeze so when it should freeze it doesn't freeze" How can you not love this guy! :)
  • 7:35 "But I also play the backup guitar, because it gets lonely too" :D

This dude is super humble, comes across and a great guy who after all these years of playing still loves it as much as the first day he picked up a guitar. He basically did this interview/run down all by himself, he is an endorsers dream. No wonder Fender look after him so well.

John 5 rotates his backup guitars on stage, so they don't get lonely.  Yes.
  • I don't even like metal... but this is hands-down the BEST Rig Rundown because John 5 actually looks like he wants to be there and is clearly passionate about what he does.
  • One of the nicest players to do a Rig Rundown. It shows that he watches the show and understands the curiosities of guitar players.
  • Wow John 5 seems like a really down to earth cool dude.
  • After all these years, still my favorite rig rundown, by my still, favorite guitarist, J5. I became a devotee many years ago when I left a random comment on one of his facebook pictures about enjoying the struggle in trying to learn to play one of his songs. The dude took the time to write a novel in return for everyone in the thread on the tricks he used to make the song. It was like a damn Jedi divining a skill onto his trainee's. The way he said it was filled with wisdom, and it made sense; and damn... it nailed what I needed to know to nail his song. The guy gives a lot back to his people, and he genuinely seems to know that he's in an amazing place in life. Somehow, he was raised to want to lift others up with him. A true class act of an artist.

John Bohlinger is a rad dude. He always has that twinkle in his eye like he is a kid hanging with his heroes. I love his enthusiasm and general easiness with the musicians. I think he is the best of the RRd hosts
  • Met John 5 at a guitar clinic he did in Louisville back in 09. One of the coolest, most down to earth and friendly guys you will ever meet. Not to mention he seemed like a very shy kind of guy when talking to us. Regardless the man is a beast on guitar and can jam country to metal like its nothing.
  • I really appreciate when successful musicians do their own rig rundowns. John seems like a legit nice guy.
  • I've said it before, but I'll say it again; while Zombie and Manson are not my cup of tea, John 5 is nothing but the BEST.  I met him once at the Winter NAMM in Anaheim, CA and he was the most pleasurable to have met.  He is intellectual, took his time to speak with me (and I'm a nobody in the music scene except a hobbyist).  At 17:33 in this video he curses YET takes time and has the awareness to apologize to the kids who may be watching.  Is that a Class Act or what!.  This guy is awesome and I've enjoyed listening to him often.  I'm 62 yrs of age and love the man!  Thanks PG for the interview.

I don't think there's anyone who loves Telecasters more! I'd love to have one of his signature models, specially that gold 😍 18:33
  • Cool guy, really enjoyed the presentation. I really appreciate it when the musician takes time to talks about his craft and gear rather than letting the tech do it instead.

Wow! John did his own Rig Rundown! John sounds like a cool dude that hasn't let "it" go to his head...he sounds like a good dude...
  • I went to the G4 Experience last week and John was one of the instructors. He talked about his board and the only thing he’s added since this is the Boss Octave for the intro to Kickstart My Heart. I love John’s humility and his ability to use what most of us would call a “cheap” pedalboard and proceed to blow us all away with it.
  • I never thought John's rig would be so simple. Another reason to have so much respect for the dude.

I love that John 5 is leading the actual interview and rundown. He knows exactly where to go and what do show next. The host is just following. lol.
