To those who are wondering; Those tiny white insects are springtails. They are harmless to pets but they are very beneficial to plants and soil. They break down materials and recycle them. Some of them do eat young roots though.

I wonder if Cotton is the happiest hamster in the world. He’s got a good owner, a natural setup that gives him lots to do and utilize his natural instincts but with no predators.
  • Very interesting how despite being in such a natural set up he’s still very trusting of you. You would think he would almost go wild, but he still has the temperament of your average pet hamster. However you can still see his wild instincts kick in when he’s digging and foraging for food.

I'm so happy you give your hamster real food! So many hamster owners think seeds are a hamster's natural diet. SO WRONG. They are omnivores and require meat and plants (which seeds are NOT) to live longer! You are a fantastic pet owner!

Wow. This is the first time I have seen a hamster in this kind of ultranatural habitat. I am amazed and touched by your expertise and dedication. The buggies are freaking me out, but if they help him be healthy then so be it. Love the music, too. I only wish he had another of his kind to preen and nap with.

Cotton is the happiest hamster! I love the idea of giving animals large, naturalistic habitats designed to make them comfortable and stimulated and you have done a wonderful job, thanks for the videos!

The last hamster I had, I used to take him outside when my dogs weren’t out there. My hamster always went to the same tree in the middle of the yard. He chewed the wood near the roots and he discovered rolliepollies! I noticed he would also eat them lol. He also would “hide” in the grass but it was too short. Ace was a good hamster
  • I remember seeing the original video thinking it was so cool but worried if the hamster would turn feral, but it looks like Cotton is still really nice to you. Kinda crazy how buff he is. You can really see his musculature from all the digging. Anyway thank you for the update!

This has to be one of the best cared for hamsters in the world
  • Oh goodness I wish all hamsters and hamster owners could live this way. This is lovely and cotton is adorable!
  • I love the Winter White Hamsters. They are by far the friendliest, most social, interactive hamsters I've ever raised. Will never have another breed again. Thanks for sharing this.

learned so much in one video I wish I would have treated my previous hamsters better.

i like how every story ends in "hamster ate it" kind of like one punch man punching it

Cotton is kinda buff from all that digging 🤣. It's nice that it can live like nature intended. Very cute.

I love that you have him a solid wheel and a little drinking pot but not a whole pond or anything. Too often in setups like these, there isn’t a wheel for the hamster or there is too much water in the enclosure. Lovely!
  • The beautiful segment on the plants growing from seeds and creating life cutting to a happy Cotton after eating them made me laugh so hard. 😂 This is the setup I want if I ever get a hamster.

Awww he’s the King of his little kingdom! He’s living the Hamster dream!
  • Little guy is in hamster paradise. Has his own perfectly maintained territory to live his best hammy life with zero predators and food delivery. I wish I could be this happy!

이 집 햄찌는 정말 전생에 나라를 구했나봐요ㅜ 몇 개월 전과 비교했을 때와 거의 달라진게 없이 건강하네요. 보는 제 마음도 편해져요ㅜㅜ
