Expert chef Frank and home cook Lorenzo are back, swapping their recipes and ingredients for your culinary viewing pleasure. We gave Lorenzo $98 worth of ingredients and Frank's notebook to make the best burger he could (with an assist from food scientist Rose!) On the other side, Frank received $9 worth of materials and tried to improvise his way up to gourmet. Who achieved the most impressive results under these mixed up circumstances?

Franks daughter’s friend: hey what you got for lunch? Franks daughter in 1st grade during lunch: I just got a pan seared ribeye with sautéed vegetables and a bearnaise sauce on the side

Lorenzo: how do I do this Frank: I must make homemade water

The ingredients for the expensive burger look like a week’s food shopping.

Lorenzo is so full of Joy and Frank is like that Profesor that everyone loves and comes back to see when they graduate

I've always appreciated how Frank never talks badly about cheaper ingredients.
  • Frank: “Home cooks don’t usually taste their food.” Me, a home cook: Half of the food is eaten by the time I serve it 😳

That father daughter moment was the sweetest part of the video .

One of the things I appreciate about Frank is that he never scoffs or seems shocked by the lower cost recipes or ingredients. The culinary world can be incredibly elitist and classist, but he seems to avoid that kind of behavior. He is still able to elevate the dishes and show his knowledge, but it comes more from a place of passion and intent to educate, as opposed to showing off. And Lorenzo is just a ball of human sunshine. No complaints.

I love how Frank always says, “With Lorenzo’s recipe, we have some simpler ingredients”, and not, “With Lorenzo’s recipe, we have some cheaper ingredients”.
  • I love how Lorenzo started cooking in the day but wasn't finished till dark where as frank was done in the same time 🤣

Lorenzo missed the chance at a pun. "I dropped the beet"

Frank’s kitchen is sleek modern and professional. While Lorenzo’s is homey soft and traditional. It really is pro vs home cook. Edit: don’t know what the hell happened in the replies. I’m just talking about their kitchens and y’all are arguing over pans??? Edit 2: I’m concerned for you guys. I really am. I don’t know much about cookware but this is entertaining.

Let's be real everyone was expecting Frank to make the buns from scratch too.
  • @Jobother
Frank: I am a professional chef and i will calmly explain my process to you while I'm chopping food. Lorenzo: R2D2 screeching

  • Can we just have a moment to appreciate the vibe of these home-filmed episodes? I mean I know that was filmed during a Covid era of struggle yet these videos look so warm and comforting

Lorenzo said with the gouda cheese "I feel 'gouda' bout that"🤣
