In the late '80s and early '90s, the hard rock band Guns N’ Roses stood out in the genre for their unique sound built around the guitaring genius of slash and Dizzy Reed’s keyboard and percussion arrangements. But their sound would not have been complete without the distinct sultry and belting vocals of Axl Rose. Rose knew how to tell a story and brought the great songwriting of Guns N’ Roses to life. Unfortunately, for all the passion he displayed while singing and performing on stage, Rose faced a lot of tragedy in his life. To take a deep dive into the tragic real-life of this troubled but talented singer, watch this video!

What other musicians do you want to learn more about?
  • When something traumatic happens to you, such as sexual abuse when you're young, you sometimes don't grow passed the age in which it happened or become emotionally stunted. So when Axl says he's like a screaming two year old. That's true because he hadn't healed from it. His inner child is very damaged.
  • For anyone mocking his current appearance, keep in mind that you’re comparing a man truly working through his demons, to a 30+ years younger alcoholic drug addict... they tend to be thinner. I for one, greatly admire his courage to be focused on being mentally healthy, and his courage in being open about it. That takes bravery that very few could ever understand. Axl, I’m proud of you. 🙂
  • ... behind every man, is a story... nobody knows what tragic things they have endured in life!

Nobody: 'Guns n' Roses sound may be built around Slash's guitar and Duff Mckagen's bass' N.B. Axl and Izzy wrote and composed approximately 80% of the material. Axl's voice IS what set the sound of Gn'R apart from the rest. These offhand opinions just pisses me off.

I hate how many haters he has! He is a wonderful human being who went through a lot, and has disabilities he can’t help, I love axl so much and seeing people hate on him absolutely Tears me to pieces.
  • I've never understood why he gets blamed for the riots. Just because he walks off stage doesn't mean everyone else has to start fighting and breaking stuff.
  • So misunderstood, So talented, There will never be another Axl Rose that voice is one of a kind and GNR is fucking awesome!
  • i relate to Axl so much in that i had a very similar childhood and also have struggled with sudden outbursts of anger. who would hurt a kid like this?😭💔
  • I've just finished reading this true story about Axl Rose's childhood. And, my heart sincerely goes out to him.
  • All I know is that I'm glad Axl is alive and not dead.  So many of these folks end up stiff after giving billions of people the cure for boredom through their music.
  • He's intelligent and talented and he survived something horrible. My respect for accomplishing so much and trying to fix his issues.
  • Yet despite his early life he has achieved an incredible amount. He should be applauded and celebrated as a true legend
  • My heart really goes out to Axl. I like his humble honest answers to the interviews, that yes there is a 2 year old screaming inside of him. He did an outstanding job venting his deep rooted pain into amazing music. I love G n R, now I have even more respect for the pain behind the music.
