Jumping the line should not be illegal. It's a pure skill move

I’m surprised Mike Vrabel milking the clock the same way against Belicheck a few months later in the playoffs wasn’t mentioned here.

Hip drop tackle rule is such bullsh!t It’s gonna be a disaster. Hopefully it’s not called on a 4 down game ending tackle in the playoffs or Super Bowl. I played 12 years of football up to semi pro from pee wee. I don’t see how you can avoid wrapping around (which is proper technique) and always keeping your feet, if the runner outweighs you your gonna fly a bit. Bs rule

Ok... one small thing to correct here. The wedge block itself didn't technically hurt anyone. The problem with the wedge block was that it was so effective that the only way to stop it is to send someone in at full speed (usually a backup linebacker or fullback) kamikaze style to collide with it to break it. A properly orchestrated wedge was almost impossible to stop on kickoffs.

Worried that officials are going to have a tough time calling/not calling hip drop.

Fumbleroosky and goaltending should be legal. Hip tackle is the dumbest thing I've ever heard

5:12 - Vontaze Burfict was a cheap shot maestro since his college days at ASU, Ju Ju's hit on him was probably revenge
  • Hip tackle is illegal? What are you gonna do then tell him to lay down? If you dont want to be tackled play flag football or something
  • You know there is setbing else going on the hip drop tackle when even the NFLPA is against a new rule for "player safety." More ambiguity in officiating. Just what we need.

I agree that the crack back block ban was a good thing, but I don’t care. It gave us some of the best clips in NFL history

Now let's see football plays that were once banned but are now legal. I can think of one for starters.
  • Just to be clear, leaping over the long snapper is only illegal if you had to make contact with another player to do it, especially the long snapper. If you can get over the long snapper clean, it's legal.

When I k´played rugby as a kid that hip tackle was the very first defensive move I learned. Our trainer kept on telling us it would be the savest ( meaning least dangerous in terms of injuries) way of tackling if done right. It is pretty weird to me that they would ban that in football when they still allow to shoulderblock and closeline other guys.
  • @multiyapples
Honestly, due to the danger of the most if not all of the plays I can understand why these are banned.

0:59 funny that this wasnt even called a horse collar in the game.

Without the head slap, I might never have gotten into college back in the ‘70’s😮😮😮
  • 6:20 the name "fumblerooski" I believe was a play Nebraska ran at one point frequently. I believe Nebraska designed it
