Moonfall is a ridiculous disaster movie that, I guess, some people watched at one point. Maybe. Boy does it have sins.

Thursday: fantasy/adventure sins

Remember, no movie is without sin. Which movie's sins should we count next?

  • Like how Jeremy acknowledges that a lot of people actually worked hard on this film, despite the end product. But, seriously, he went easy on this movie.
  • I loved the part where the moon says “it’s falling time” and then everybody started clapping at the cinema
  • This was one of the most ridiculous experiences I've ever had, watching this film. I kept nervously laughing from all the stupid things that were there and I normally have high tolerance for these types of movies, Armageddon is my great guilty pleasure! But this... destroyed even me.
  • I'm surprised you didn't say anything about getting the space shuttle ready for launch in a day or two! Also the ending of this movie where avatars for the former human-like people to look like the astronaut's son is just like the ending in "Contact". And the DNA explanation of life on Earth is the same explanation used in "Mission to Mars" (2000).
  • You actually noticed the white dwarf issue. Not only that, a white dwarf would be so dense it would actually mess up the entire solar system AND the Earth would be orbiting the Moon, not the other way around.
  • I'm surprised you guys managed to keep this video to a respectable 20 mins. I was expecting something twice as long.
  • I can't believe you missed that the "How many Brians you think are inside the moon" joke was lifted from The Lost World Jurassic Park, where they're searching for the Julianne Moore character and someone calls out "Sarah Harding" and Ian Malcolm asks "How many Sarahs you think are on this island?"
  • We watched about 30 minutes if this movie when I was ready to turn it off. My wife asked if there was a CinemaSins on it, found out there was, then had to finish it so I could enjoy your commentary. Thank you for making the movie worth it.
  • I watched this in actual cinema just for the memes, I knew nothing about the movie except that it was just infinitely bad, and it fulfilled its expectations to 100%. I unironically hope they make a sequel just because it was so beautifully stupid
  • Roland Emmerich back in 2009: “2012 will be my final disaster movie” Post 2009: Um
  • The thing with the 'increased gravitational pull' that's really stupid is that if the moon was getting that close, we'd be experiencing just, all the geologic disasters. Superquakes, skyscraper sized tsunamis, crazy weather. How the hell were the oceans being pulled to the moon? Somewhat less gravity isn't the same as the moon somehow having greater gravity. There is no reason why anything to be leaving terra firma to visit the moon when it's supposed to have 1/6th the mass of Earth. There shouldn't be a survivable surface left once the moon started getting very close. I mean, the movie even featured a 'rips the atmosphere away' bit. Where did it go? Somehow our atmosphere was just fine after the orbit got reset? Sure, some of the air would have been pulled around the planet to follow the moon as it orbits, but I think the implication was a lot of it was being pulled away to the moon itself...What I'm saying is, is that forget the human race surviving. Virtually all complex life (and a lot of the single celled life forms as well) should have been wiped out by this disaster. The movie is just not good. The pandemic no doubt played a hand in how much of a mess it turned out to be, but it plays fast and loose with logic and physics to a degree that makes the average over the top Hollywood action flick roll its eyes in disbelief.
  • “What sucks even more is that this isn’t the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard taught in schools!” I never knew a sin could physically hurt until now.
  • The real sin of the "How many Brians do you think are inside the moon" line is that it's a direct rip-off of a Jeff Goldblum quote in The Lost World.
  • @Xhalonick
This is the best bad movie in a long time. You'll get some good laughs out of this one.
  • The third act exposition dump in this had me on the verge of laughing out loud in the theater, I don’t know how they managed to make a movie about the moon being caused to crash into the Earth even more ridiculous but I really got a kick out of it. This movie is a really entertaining kind of bad
  • I'm amazed there was no sin for everyone going home once the one rocket engine failed around 9:00. Launching that rocket was the only chance they had to get up there and stop the moon from falling. The rocket failing effectively doomed humanity. Yet, there was no effort put in to fix it? Nobody was even going to try to find an alternative? It was just, "Well, there goes our one chance, I guess we're screwed now" from everyone? Immediately? To me, that seemed like the most egregious flaw in the whole movie, and in a movie with this many flaws, that's saying something.
  • One sin removed from you, CinemaSins, for the Mystery Science Theater 3000 reference (and also the little dig at Weezers Toto cover lol)
  • “I saw this movie where the MOON was going to FALL, and the MOON kept FALLING at varying speeds over time, and if the MOON managed to FALL to Earth’s surface, everyone would die! I think it was called The Rock That Couldn’t Slow Down.”
  • Missed a sin at 7:03, light years is a measurement of distance and not of time. And following the dialogue, he says that we are at Stone Age compared to them, so it confirms the movie used 'light years' referencing to time. :D
  • Love this, someone who says all the things I do about how ridiculous this is, but doesn't get told to shut up by their family! Oh God when you started singing, BRILLIANT, can't believe I missed that one.
