這首歌是瓊瑤1975年時為她的電影《在水一方》譜寫的同名主題歌，樂曲的靈感雖然來源於中國最早的詩歌總集《詩經》，曲調卻沒有使用中國古代的傳統五音，為作品增添了一分神秘的異域色彩。

This composition is the theme song of the 1975 film One Side of the Water (also known as The Unforgettable Character) directed by Mei Chun Chang and written by renowned Taiwanese author Yao Chiung. Although the inspiration comes from the ancient Chinese poetry collection Shi Jing, the melody does not use the traditional pentatonic scale, adding a touch of mysterious exoticism to the work.
