🎄FAT QUARTER CHRISTMAS QUILT 2 | Beginner Friendly Free Tutorial | 5 HOUR QUILT TOP

Published 2024-06-25
🎄☀️ WELCOME! ☀️🎄 This is the second FQ Christmas Quilt. I had a LOT of holiday fabric leftover from other projects! I decided to try and put this fabric together into one project, and here is the result! This quilt top took me about 5 hours, which includes a bit of time fixing mistakes! If you don't make my mistakes this would probably take you 4 hours! 🤣🤣🤣 REMEMBER - you can use STASH, SCRAPS or whatever you have! You can modify this to any size you want to make!

I squared my FQs to 17 inches by 20 inches. I used 20 FQs, which made 40 blocks.
From each FQ I cut the following:
4 - 16" x 3"
2 - 11" x 4"
2 - 4" x 3"
The layout is 9 by 4 (I had 4 extra blocks). The finished size is approximately 64" x 81"

This is a great block. I was sitting here watching thinking I wonder if you could do a QAYG block. It is a big enough block and then I thought about my 10” squares of mens shirts. As I watched at the end you mentioned putting a 1” strip around each block and even mentioned using layer cakes.. Guess I could. I think I would use maybe 1.5 strip. This is going to take some thought and playing around with numbers which isn’t my strong point. Going to rewatch and make some notes in my idea book. This one is a keeper for sure. Thanks for another great tutorial.

Great idea for using fat quarters. I can easily coordinate 20 fat quarters with half light and half dark around a theme like holiday, juvenile, patriotic, and get a top done for charity quilts. Nice size and great instructions with helpful tips. Love the row marking and orientation using clips.
  • I plan on making "throws" for my local VA Hospital. This pattern is just what I need to make several in little time and using fat quarters. Thank You!
  • Love your pattern and the layout. I have a lot of fat quarters and can probably make some from Christmas fabrics. This one is a winner!

Thank you for the tutorial and pattern. Great pattern and not too fussy to cut and piece. I have collected a number of food, Christmas, patriotic, and bug prints. Have to see what I have and decide which theme to make.
  • This is fabulous! Great way to use up your stash as well. Great work sis!
