Pretty sure the cooler was set to just above freezing. Tipping it upside-down releases carbonation to keep enough pressure, the machine is a small anti-griddle, aka a cold plate, meant to drain just a little more heat out of the liquid. At that point, the pressure is what's keeping it from freezing. Once you crack the top, the pressure is released and the ice crystals start to form.
  • For anyone who wants to try this, you can do this at home. If you set a drink in the freezer for several hours and avoid moving it or jostling it at all, it may go into a supercooled state - the temp of the liquid has dropped below freezing, but it hasn't actually become ice yet. To activate the freezing process, simply tap the bottle on something. And now you have a slush! Works for bottled water too, but it has to be pretty pure, tap water won't work.

51 cents for a coke is crazy when it's 2 sometimes 3 dollars here regularly

One of the many things I love about DB is how they put me in their perspective experiencing amazing food!

The most insane part was realizing how expensive sodas are here in America. 😭😭😭

Me watching the Coca Cola start get dangerously full: "BACONS!! NO!!" My roommates: ???????????????
  • Place soda in freezer for 3 hours 15 minutes. Take the soda out and open the bottle and immediately close it to do a quick release of the gas. Then tilt the bottle upside down and it will crystalize to a slushy like consistency.

  • great video, save one for me, sending love from USA, green bay, Wisconsin
  • With Thailand's tropical weather this is a brilliant little idea. For that matter, we could use something like this here in Texas with how hot our summers are, with the difference being that bottles of soda here are grossly overpriced in the US, as has already been pointed out. If I drank soda, I'd want this as well.
