Excellent King guide, covers a lot of ground in a reasonable amount of time. Here's some things I'd like to add as a King player: -Crouch throws being unbreakable in Tekken 8 means they are an amazing punishment tool for lows where the opponent recovers crouching. Each of King's crouch throws gives him oki and two of them floor break. Keep in mind what lows you can punish with these (ex: drag d2, Jin d2, victor perfumer 1) -In Tekken 8, throws become unbreakable against a powercrushing opponent. That means you can heavily punish power crushes with King's throws. Throws like muscle buster and tombstone come out at 11 frames and do 50+ damage. You could even punish King's own b3, which is -10, with a giant swing (if you're quick enough) - CH df2, 1 combo is difficult to achieve on female characters. You have to do a quick dash in before doing df4, 3 otherwise it will whiff. You can opt instead to just do a people's elbow if you don't want to risk dropping the combo - ub1's evasion is practically non existent and imo the move isn't worth using at all -db1+2 muscle armor has a lot of utility. Depending on what move you absorbed and how well you timed the muscle armor, you can cancel it and punish with a hopkick instead of the followup. I consider it the perfect move for dealing with strong while running attacks -the second hit of df1, 2 cannot be neutral guarded. A lot of players don't realize this, so you can get away with using it a lot in lower/mid ranks -df1, 2 is a block punishment tool against -14 moves that leave the opponent ducking (all your other goto punishes are high). Newcomer Eddy has some moves where df1, 2 is necessary to punish them -The follow up on CD4 normal hit is very finnicky. Depending on the character, you can get anywhere between 0-3 alley kicks against them. Against King himself, for example, you can't get any alley kicks unless you maybe do a microdash. (this is all assuming the enemy tech rolls) -Here's one for the King haters: The RKO's animation is slow enough that you can duck it on reaction. Take it into training mode and practice it, eventually you will never get hit by an RKO again -In heat, it isn't EVERY throw that King lands that restores his heat meter: only his key throws (giant swing, tijuana, shining wizard, muscle buster, pedigree, RKO). The figure four or a generic throw, for example, won't restore meter -In heat, King's jaguar sprint 2 becomes +6 on block instead. It also behaves differently against aerial opponents, opening up some creative combo routes -in my opinion, steer clear of the df1+3 and df2+4 chain throws and opt to use his crouch dash chain throws instead. They are quicker and give the opponent less chances to break

Difficult to master. Had some xp with Motion Capture for video games and gotta admit even though Namco has always created a seriously fluid and accurate movement animations and overall choreography for Tekkens in the past, (I think they were using MoCap before it was industry standard) They outdid themselves with this one PS. You almost saw me as Leon in these new Resident Evil games :)

  • @leopart7600
Db1+2 Can also be use as a "Parry launcher" when used against hard whiffstun movement Best exemple is Dragunov's wr2 If king does db1+2 soon enough and drag goes wr2 into it king can actually HOPKICK PUNISH it

Reina next plz ur combos are so optimized!!
  • @Visual217
Honestly, you'd be surprised how often Atlas Hammer works when the enemy starts spamming panic highs. I get easy 70 damage combos when hitting them with the F,F 4 into the running grab.

how to hit blue ranks with king: learn his combos in 1 minute launch and instantly throw for full combo dmg. learn a 1 2 and 1+2 command grab and be in jaguar sprint for 95% of the match. your opponent can’t step your opponent can’t duck your opponent can’t block. your opponent can’t mash. just never leave jaguar sprint do some ballerina shenanigans fly around lay on the ground and destroy everybody who just wanna play some tekken haha he is just so op but at the same time the most fun character in this game as long as throws track he will stay online god tier just like paul and the bears but they are online gods for another reason haha
