The fact that it is even possible to grow new vegetables from scraps, just proves, once again how amazing and truly awesome God is, and all his creation! Hallelujah!
  • @ceejay331
We need people like this lovely lady teaching gardening in schools
  • @luisagreen9394
I finally did it. Celery, green onion, and lettuce. They sprouted. Proud of my little veggie garden. 🥬🌱🌱🌱
  • My grandmother raised seven children during the depression. She buried all her kitchen scraps every evening after cleaning up. She constantly had food to harvest.

Within 30 seconds of watching this video you’ve made me smile, you have a wonderful positivity and presence.
  • This makes me think of wartime cookbooks, where they encouraged various ways to stretch precious food rations. This is old-school home-economics at their best.
  • @Lyrakill
i really appreciate all the free information. a lot of people would all but force the audience to buy a book or something, but you’re so gracious and sincerely want to help people. i love that! may the LORD bless you and increase your territory.
  • It seems like whoever designed this planet really was setting us up for success. All this can grow from what most people throw out. Mind boggling. Thank you for sharing this!

I LOVE this lady, I'm eleven and I've been trying to get more into cooking. She makes it so much more fun & easy. Mary is so wholesome and I love it! Lots of love, Violet❤️
  • It's so awesome to be taught to regrow scraps during quarantine. My daughter and I already have onions growing. She's only 4 years old and will remember growing vegetables with momma during quarantine rather than all the panic. Thank you for sharing
  • @Katya-zj7ni
You won’t get a carrot from a carrot top but as well as the greens you may get carrot seeds if those greens flower, you’ll then be able to plant the tiny seeds and then get lots of carrots. A worthwhile experiment especially for children xx
  • Thank you so much, Mary. I promote, promote, promote the food scrap growing as I work with low income folks. Let everyone live well and be happy. :)
  • I just wanted to let you know that since you put this video out almost 2 years ago I have regrown sooo much food from scraps..its so much fun and my girls who are now 10 and close to 14 really enjoy helping in the kitchen just so they can see what new stuff we can re-grow. I have it saved in a playlist and I re-watch it every time we are processing veggies to use as a reminder of how to do it!

Great info! Tip: to force ginger to grow the nodes for new plants quicker, cut up a peeled onion and place several pieces in with the ginger root. In the same way that potatoes will grow their eyes if stored near onions, so will ginger. Once nodes are showing well, then cut ginger into pieces, each with a node, let dry for a day or so then plant. This tip came from an Asian lady's video about how to start ginger quickly, here on youtube.
  • Simple methods like this, should be taught in school. Awesome video, great teaching, and practical advice! Thanks
  • Oh my gosh! I'm never throwing that stuff away ever again! How absolutely amazing and what a money saver!
  • @Katya-zj7ni
I did this under growlights in the depths of Winter in my spare bedroom, it was like the hanging gardens of Babylon .. but all edible. Fantastic to see you encouraging younger people to do this. It’s also a great project for children ❤️❤️🙌
