Type 2 diabetes is clearly the result of poor nutrition. my sister took metformin for 10 years. what for? she couldn't get rid of her diabetes. I persuaded her to try the ketogenic diet, cutting out sugar, fruit, bread and snacks. after a year she had normal blood sugar levels, normal blood pressure and lost 20kg. She is now drug free and only eats 2 meals a day. I'm proud of her
  • I was prescribed metformin about 35 years ago for type 2 diabetes. I take 2 1000mg tablets daily and break the pills in half, taking them 4 times daily. I am now 80 years old and the only side effect from metformin I might be seeing is the possible longevity one. Along the way I have had my B-12 checked and it was right in the middle of where it should be. Also. my kidney function is checked often and remains normal. I did start taking a B12 supplement even though my B-12 was normal because it's not going to hurt anything. Never had the diarrhea problem from metformin, but now that I am 80 I am often constipated. I suppose that could be the metformin, but I think just getting old is more likely. There is a reason for the old people and eating prunes advice. Metformin works for me and it's free with my insurance............so far...so good....
  • Iโ€™ve been a type 2 diabetic for over 15 years. Eleven years ago I was prescribed Metformin and had a terrible reaction. I became so dehydrated so quickly that I wound up in the hospital. I was taking lithium and the dehydration caused lithium toxicity to the point that I had what my doctor called a chemical stroke. It took me two years to learn to talk again, a year before I could walk without a cane, and I still have memory loss and some speech aphasia. Three years ago I changed my lifestyle and everyday I learn as much as possible about this disease that affects so many of us. Thank you for your informative videos! Itโ€™s great to have reliable sources. BTW - Iโ€™ve lost 80 pounds, gotten off of all diabetic meds including insulin, brought triglycerides down from 1800 to 75. My A1c was 14.8 with insulin and glyburide when I started this change its now 6.2 with no medication or insulin.
  • Tks for all you do doc. I'm still on metformin. But my blood work shows my last 3 month average is at 5.5. So I guess I'm in remission. My doctor is freaking on my new health outlook. 40+ pounds lost, 5 mile a day walks. Healthy food and now gym everyday. You've helped a lot with this.

I talked to my doc and told him about my thoughts on Metformin and why I am not comfortable in taking it. He didn't listen to me and insisted that I should continue on taking it if I want to live longer. Thank God i saw this video and changed to a new doctor who is better in listening to my concerns and answering my queries.

I totally agree. I walk 10,000 steps every day, do some simple weight lifting in addition to being vegan plus 16/8 intermittent fasting. I have been taking stations for a year and I feel great.

Found out I was a Type II in 2002 and my doctor at the time put me on Actos. Switched to a different doctor a few years later who put me on Metformin. It's done a fine job but a couple years ago, my current doctor added Invokana. The combination has done a fine job. No problems with either.

Dr. Ergin Thank You for your website, it is a great help to many! I use Berberine 2 caps daily and it works! I take Metformin 3x daily 500mg=1500mg daily. My endocrinologist doctor here finally put me on delayed /slow release Metformin, and that stopped most all of diarrea symptoms. Took a week or so for it to work, but is good now. WE must cut out refined carbs and use our meds to survive, also walking and exercise daily. I need to lose 30 lbs and would do better. I will be 70 in a few months and feel mostly good in my life, but I could do better.

I have been watching your videos for some time and find it really interesting. I am diabetic since last 20 years. I was taking allopathic medicine but changed to exercise (Pranayama and Yoga), diet control ( No added sugar, less carb, moderate protein and fat, vegetables, sprouts, some fruit and nuts), herbs and Ayurvedic medicine since three years back. I try to eat three times within 10AM to 7PM, no snacking in between meals. I am 66years old, have my fasting blood sugar around 100 and feel my health has improved. I am sharing my experience so that you evaluate Ayurvedic medicine and suggest an holistic approach to manage diabetes.

My kidney doctor took me off of metformin without prescribing a replacement. Consequently, I am suffering from peripheral neuropathy and I am struggling to control my blood sugar. Thank you so much for providing information on the dihydroberberine and I will discuss that with my doctor tomorrow.
  • @ibberman
Thank you for a great video. After hearing Metformin was used in anti-ageing medicine, I always thought I was fortunate to be using it as I have been able to control my blood sugar really well for the last 10 years. I now realize that all my problems regarding bloating pain and a host of other problems are related to Metformin. Periods of being housebound etc. Liver and kidney as well. The amazing thing is the many specialists I have seen, procedures I have had, and all referred from other doctors over the last 5 years, not one mentioned Metformin could be the problem.
  • @pinsolomons
Tried Berberene for two weeks and had to stop due to severe joint and tendon pain. Pain went away about a week after stopping it. Hope it works better for most people.
  • @danieldmg
I have been using metformin for 1,5 month with absolutely no side effects. Also, taking berberine + cinnamon
  • Thank you so much for the info and advice. I do take berberine when I cant tolerate Metformin etc. I also take Jardiance. They both work well. Berberine gives a little diarrhoea but its much better than Metformin. I took Metformin one night and I couldnt sleep. I nearly fainted. Thank God for the alternatives. Its better to take medications with food. Nobody told me that before. Thanks again. I always appreciate the natural alternatives. They are so much easier on the body and healthier. Moringa is also good. Also drink lots of water.
  • Great source of information, itโ€™s not talked about anywhere and I was under the impression that there was no treatment for type two diabetes other than keto diet but obviously thereโ€™s a whole different universe in our planet if one actually finds a compassionate doctor., thanks a lot for the very informative video and Iโ€™ll be buying the supplement for sure .๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป
  • I cannot handle the side effects of metformin. I would like other choices.
