I just found this channel. Great info and I was really looking forward to seeing him build the Curta from scratch. I went to his blog website and found that he passed away in 2023. Rest in peace and thank you for sharing your knowledge in a fun way.

Nice job, I made the same arbor and it cut great. I am thinking about case hardening it.
  • This one is getting closer to the top of my to do list. Thanks for showing your build. I will look back at it when I jump into my build.

We like making our own tools and tooling so this will be a joy to watch. What a few turns to loosen then tighten a collet into the chuck LOL. Collets make my life possible Hardinge is a great maker. Thank you for the general tightening tip as well. Lance & Patrick.

Funny how you said bough ones are terrible :)The one I bought had a perfect fit for the saw blade hole. But the corner was relieved to much and saw blade would fit right in.So I added a standard washer that was a reasonable fit. I tightened things up, used it, broke the blade and could never take it apart again. I actually broke an allen head bit trying to unscrew it. Today it still lays in my chip tray. One day I'll try to make one myself. Nice job, great camera work too.

Nice video and presentation. Page 10:44 indicates the receptacle was turned and measured before the plug saw holder. What if the plug is turned to fit the saw perfectly but later realize that the receptacle bore is larger than the plug a bit more than you intended?

Thank You , Excellent, you are absolutely correct, the cheap ones suck. Can I ask the make of your collet chuck? I can not get the tolerance you do with my import. Also I have found it is important to tighten the chuck cam bolts evenly and not too tight, like you said. Thanks Again

you run the chuck up and down with a battery operated drill and finish with the chuck key. I do realize that a snap of the finger is far better

Lather manual is good sir..your idea 💯👍👏👏👏👏

Did you plan to kill two flats on the head just so we have some foot hold to torque the holding bolt?
  • @HappyHands.
there's a miniature version for drimel tools, it's one of the most dangerous bits to have on a hand held rotary tool
