Published 2023-03-03
State Sen. Nathan Dahm (R-OK) has penned several bills loosening gun restrictions, including the nation's first anti-red flag law against restricting gun access to those deemed dangerous. Not only does he want to protect the Second Amendment, but he also believes guns make us safer. We think it's probably one or the other. • I’m a courtroom lawyer, and Jon Stewart is not, but I would say that was the most devastating cross-examination I’ve ever seen.
  • The way this man wracked his brain to avoid saying 'register' was a feat to behold.
  • @ziqi92
Jon is very articulate in his argument even when he’s visibly upset. I absolutely admire that. I would have become a rambling mess a long time ago trying to keep up with these mental gymnastics.
  • @rirashid88
The way he connected his gun control argument to free speech to drag show performers and back to gun control to prove his original point of protecting children was pretty dam impressive
  • @abe_froman8360
Apple's loss is Comedy Central's gain. Welcome back, Jon.
  • Jon is SUCH A GOOD debate participant. He is walking this guy in a circle in such an artful way. Even though he’s angry. It makes me tear up every time I watch him do this. It’s a MASTERCLASS.
  • I loved in when the senator tried to say, “This isn’t an anecdote; this actually happened,” completely unaware that it’s still an anecdote.
  • @slumbermeadow
"This is not an anecdote. This actually happened." Among the many things that Dahm doesn't know, the definition of anecdote is one of them.
  • His refusal to say "register" is the best proof of cognitive dissonance I have ever seen.
  • @courgette3401
Sat in The UK . You have no idea how ridiculous America looks from this side of the pond.
  • @tracylavalle1555
What did Nathan expect? He got his hypocrisy, handed to him on a silver platter. In front of 1 million people. Keep going Jon. So glad you’re back.
  • @jayargh1132
I just realized that I don’t think this politician knows what an anecdote is 😂
  • @henhenhen19
"I'm familiar with a ton of anecdotes." Best line ever said to a politician.
  • @gkdair1413
7:43 you can see Jon Stewarts hand visibly shaking as he is asking the question. He is absolutely PISSED but still appears calm.
  • It’s kind of ironic that in this video Nathan Dahm is the intellectual embodiment of what happens when you bring a knife to gun fight.
  • He really said "because the government does have a responsibility to protect children" without the slightest bit of awareness, I love when they let Jon use their own words against them like that
  • @fattail01
"The government has a responsibility to..." He said it! He got him to say it!
  • @lucydrez
Jon's line 'Even rights have responsibilities' should be emblazoned on a sign in every classroom. Jon is the master.
  • @alana8863
Stewart was absolutely brilliant. He wasn't using rhetorical tricks, he just used facts to prove this guy doesn't give a flying f*** about children's lives.
