  • I'm glad they at least listened to me and made the Generations nacelle greeble removable. You shouldn't include it on your model if you are making the TNG version of the Enterprise D. You'll just have to fill in the area and make sure to get the nav light working. Also if you are making the TNG version of the Enterprise, the strip on the neck should go all the way down to the impulse engine and not connect to itself.

I dunno man, you really ought to try to keep specifics on the DL; blur their logo on the box and not mention his biz (or him) by name. Viacom/CBS/Paramount has gotten insanely cease and desist with Trek fan based projects, and has been shutting down garage kits. Some of us would like to be able to actually have a go at the current second run. And hopefully there will be more. But not if this blows up and goes viral. Successful garage kit runs, when they're intellectual property, and when the IP owner is especially litigious, have got to keep it on the DL, mums the word, for as long possible

Clearly a ton of effort went into producing this kit. That said, as a molder and caster myself I'm shocked that a big resin kit has no cast-in structure for thin sections like the nacelle pylons, or included metal support for the primary hull disc cantilevered out. 😳Resin deforms almost always over time, as we can already see on the clear pieces, and for something so big and labor intensive to build - just wow. Planning how a resin kit with thin walls/sections can hold up over time needs to be like ..50% of the work in designing the parts. Put it in front of a sunny window for an hour - game over. I wouldn't usually dare make predictions, but I sense that in a year or two, Helios will have a number of heartbroken customers. Reinforcement can always be designed and added after the fact. The total lack of panel lines on the secondary hull is the deal breaker for me though - I can see the argument that it helps with scale, but as a builder, if they bothered me I'd much rather have to fill them in than create them from scratch. Aside from the poor structural engineering, still a very impressive kit. Between your phaser mod and the rest of their advertised lighting they seem to have electronics nailed - and I'm sure it will look amazing built up. for a little while Also the lip above the deflector seems pretty chonky. Been waiting for a definitive, big kit of the D for a while and hoped this was the moment ...guess I'm still waiting 😪

Thats awsome! I hope they release this in 1/1000 scale!
  • @davidjames1389
Great review, and looking forward to getting mine in a later batch. One question though, did the 6 footer really not have ANY panel lines on it? Almost seems like it's too smooth, and your 1/1000 version is a bit more accurate in that way.
  • @blammers
Are there window cutouts in decks 9 and 10? I couldn’t tell from the camera angle.
  • @IainHamilton
That is one HUGE kit. Going to be fun watching you put the big girl together.🖖🏻
  • @MrNBridger
The kit looks beautiful I am on the verge on getting one. It is hard to see but does the model has panel lines or not?
  • @ptaylor5014
That is a beautiful kit, if only i could get my hands on her lovely nacelles 😊
  • @Iams001
My god, its full of EPIC!!!!
  • @markbaker569
hi, love the unboxing, i live in the UK, how do i get one of these for myself, many thanks Mark.
  • @TheShornak
You mentioned a could parts were for the nacelles for Generations. I know they used the 6' miniature for that movie but I didn't know they changed the model.
  • @NecronautDrummer
Shockingly huge! So, are you going to get Aztec masks made, or are you going to Cricut/hand cut them yourself? Are you doing the TV scheme or the movie multi-colour aztec scheme?
  • What a beauty! I did not know that the company sold a kit this size. I can only imagine the cost and wish I had the money to buy. Look forward to the build!
  • @paulbirza4571
Great rundown! So it looks like there no possibility of saucer edge windows, is that correct?
  • @aztekdummy
Disappointing to see the fantail isn't set up for running lights. Gonna have to fix that.
  • @geowinder
CanadianStarships..... Just received my kit... Did you receive any "walls" where the saucer Impulse engines are supposed to mount? Seems like they didn't include them.
  • @shaun3423
Galaxy-class is 642m long, so a 1/650 scale should be just about a meter in length. So, it makes sense that she is on the hefty size.
  • @woof3598
when I see kits of this size I can only wonder where and how they are dispalyed, my house inst big enough (-:
  • @doubtsalmon
Did you get the electronics kit for it as well?
