Are Premier League friendlies enough for U.S. fans?

Publicado 2024-08-01

If you choose to support a foreign team, you have no right to expect that team to come to your country.
  • @magnus383
What about Danish fans?? Australian fans?? Chinese fans??? Let English games be played in England. Jesus Christ
  • @RichMitch
If they want to see competitive games they should visit the uk to see them.
  • @Javo_AV
In response to the title... Yes, of course!! They can come to the UK like the rest of the world's population, if they want to watch competitive games. Edit: Give an inch, they'll take a mile - they'll take it all. (Rich people, not average American footy fans) If they get a competitive game, is it going to stop there? Why not this extra game in a few years time? What about having a game in Qatar? Or Saudi? Or China? Etc... It should not be entertained in the slightest. We shouldn't play devils advocate with this nonsense.

We all know what our collective answer is: who gives a fuck? Why should we give a single shit about the growth of the game in the US? This obsession with money and revenue is damaging to the game, and it's purely for the benefit of the owners. It's time for someone, whether it's the FA or the regulator or the PFA to actually stand up to one of these money grubbing American endeavours.

It doesn't matter 'if it's enough for the American fans'. There's no way, with the schedule as it is, to allow for travel to and from the states, with the jetlag and the 8-13 hour flight!??!
  • @paulhancock
Respect to all foreign fans who watch PL games at crazy times, but I don't get the logic in this topic at all. If you choose to watch the domestic league of any sport, you understand THAT is where it's played, and you don't live there... So you watch on TV. I grew up watching Serie A at it's peak and never once, even as a stupid kid thought "why don't they play here in Britain? Seems unfair..." Also, why are American fans an exception? There are Premier League fans globally, do those fans not 'deserve' to watch a game too, then? Hell, just make it a global travelling road show? Fans love the PL because it's English football with all the atmospheres, culture and tradition that comes with it. If you take it out of that environment it loses a big part of its identity. It's no longer the English Premier League. I could go on, but come on, it's silly.

As a liverpool fan in malaysia why do US fans need anything more? All respect to american reds but why should american football fans get special treatment compared to the rest of the world? Hell at least my country calls it football
  • @nathanbrown1210
As a US fan I hate these pre season tours. I don’t want to see United play at a half empty SoFi, I live in New York it’s almost just as expensive to go see a game in LA as England. If I’m going to spend the money I’m going to Old Trafford to see a full strength team in a competitive game. Tbh I’d rather see us not go on tour, the international players don’t get too go, we play on terrible pitches, transfer business slows and I feel it’s more beneficial to our players to stay at carrington and train

If you're a fan of the Premier League, you go to the League. Don't expect the League to come to you. That's a very privileged way to live your life, expecting things to come to you
  • @tinderuppal
A discussion needs to be had about the influence America is having on the Premier League. When it comes to voting and rule making all the American owners practically voting as one bloc isn't healthy.
  • @AgroKopite
Imagine a north london derby in a half empty soul less USA stadium, a big NO
  • @d.b.cooper1
Not being funny but they can't even sell out the stadium in the few friendly games they do get in some of the biggest cities in the world. This USA market interest is vastly overhyped. Keep games at home. We're not fickle like the yanks who whore out their own souless sports that can somehow literally move from 1 city to another overnight with stadiums built by the taxpayer. No thanks.
  • @jadmantoura4483
They're going to have to be. It's the ENGLISH Premier League. If American fans want to see an actual Premier League game, they can come over here to see them. Flights, accommodation and tickets too expensive? Tough shit, not our problem.
  • @djwawa8425
don't pay $300 on friendlies. just fly to europe and make a trip out of it
  • Yeah sustainable this im sure they are clamoiring for bromley vs harrogate too
  • @Atrakis
Who the fuck cares if it's enough, the rest of the world travels to England to watch, so should they. What a stupid question.
  • @barneyhall2753
It's a stupidly framed question. A more appropriate question would be something like; Will Premier League games be played outside England? At least you're addressing the real considerations at play, like the financial benefits vs the logistical issues.
  • @K2_UTD
This may have been the best episode I've heard from you guys. Keep it coming.
  • @barneyhall2753
Why shouldn't they be? It's all any other fan that lives outside England can expect.
