Don't forget how crazy lenient the item storage is in the new version. In the original, Mario could only hold up to 29 regular items, plus 29 weapon/armor/accessory items, but now he can carry up to 10 of most items, but only up to 3 Croaka Colas (formerly Kerokero Cola) at a time. Any excess items are automatically transferred to a storage box in Mario's Pad, and after that reaches 99, the items just start disappearing as you get them... but honestly, that's way more than you'd ever need of anything.

I remember watching this channel when I was younger before I forgot about it. So glad I rediscovered this, for the content is quality and never clickbaited.

I remember seeing this somewhere before (I think Master of Hyrule?) another reason why Mack was renamed to Claymorton was to avoid copyright issues. I think it was in reference to a song, something about “Mack the knife” I believe. (On a somewhat related note, I hate the fact that Yaridovich has been renamed to “Speardovich” like come on. To us it’s always been Yaridovich even though “Yari” translates to spear from Japanese which would make sense but Yaridovich just rolls better.)

This is how to properly do a remake of this stature. While there are some subtle differences and quality of life improvements, the game is still about the same. The best upgrade is the music. It is different but still very close to the original. This is unlike square enix and secret of Mana remake, which they completely botched the music upgrade.

There is a move drain from a shyster in super Nintendo, but in the remake the move drain is removed and hot shot takes it's place from a shymore.

Did the remake add any animation for “The Forkies are enraptured”?That one was a bit much for eight-year-old me.

4:15- I think this was supposed to be some clever reference to Bobby Darin's Mack the Knife. I'm all the way to the Culex 3D fight and I just discovered today there was a quick map option the whole time. I climbed Booster's tower manually for the rematch.
  • ok but does the minigame after midas jumping no longer require frame-perfect inputs in order to get all coins, to increase the price for 100% completion?

… I just beat the game last night and haven't touched the post game yet but I only just now learned that I can fast travel because of this video. This is probably why I was over leveled.

a lot of people also forget that this used to be a squaresoft game. YES before enix merged with them. so a lot of simple stuff had to change cause of that.

Who's that little dude sitting on top of my pal Mack the Knife's head? I always assumed he was wearing a red bandana.

Basic attacks sure didn't spread towards the other enemies (not targeted) in the original version, It does on the remake though.

I wish they kept a lot of the original names as I find things like "NokNokShell" way more interesting than the generic "Koopa Shell"

The new midas river layout threw me off so much. It's weird how much they changed it.
  • That trampoline in Kero Sewers served no purpose but to frustrate players. It's a good thing they removed it.
