Today saw a total of two steam tours running with both visiting Carlisle and both would involve steam tackling Shap heading north. Southern Railway unrebuilt Battle of Britain number 34067 Tangmere was incharge of Railway Touring Company's regular "Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express" which ran from London Euston to Carlisle with the northbound journey being over Shap and returning via the Settle and Carlisle line.

In this video we see 34067 as she arrives into Preston at the end of the steam haulage section of the WCME and the train would be taken back to London Euston behind the electric blue BR class 86 no 86259 Les Ross/Peter Pan. The plan had been to have the 47 which had been on the back throughout the day, which on this occasion was 47815 Great Western would drag 34067 along with it's support coach back to Carnforth MPD. However issues popped up with 34067 where the front brake air pipes weren't working properly and wouldn't make the seal like they we're supposed to do.

This meant that 47815 would have move back out of the way and be coupled up behind 34067 and it's support coach for the journey back to Carnforth, 34067 could move on it's own with the support coach but it was decided to avoid the need of needing two paths the 47 would get dragged back home.

Video footage of 5043 from on-board "The Shap Mountaineer" plus action in Carlisle with both 5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe and 34067 Tangmere in Carlisle will be getting published in seperate video's, mainly due to the amount of footage to be used being too much for 1 video.
