Double Black Fives 44871 & 45407 in Lancaster (14th April 2024) #BlackFiveDay #TheRileyDuo

Published 2024-04-14
For the 2nd day of Railway Touring Company's "Great Britain XVI" tour which explores Britain, the steam engines rostered for the journey from Cheltenham Spa to Lancaster we're Ian Riley's two black fives number's 44871 & 45407 The Lancashire Fusilier. We see the pair as they arrive into Lancaster after hauling the tour from Cheltenham Spa and travelling via Lickey Incline, Washwood Heath, Stafford, Crewe and Preston covering a distance of 180 miles.

This was the first time since February 2016 that i'd seen 44871 & the first time since March 2018 that id seen 45407 The Lancashire Fusilier (as the last time I saw her was January 2016, March 2018 was when she was disguised as scrapped sibling 45157 The Glasgow Highlander).

Rare to see the Riley Duo hauling trains which aren't in Scotland.
  • Another lovely video David well done great camera work as usual I am really looking forward to seeing your next video I hope you get a nice video next time also when is your next video going to be on YouTube bye for now Philip
  • Rare to see these two engines running south of the Scottish border on railtours rather than just bloody Jacobite trains. Wonder if both will end up going to Fort William or if one will stay in England while the other goes to help 45212 as that's the only black five up there presently.
